Where can I get, cheaply, an Old Fashioned Scout-style tent that I can leave outside for weeks at a time?

I want to bung it in the garden and just leave it there so the kids can play in it over the summer and I can drink tea and knit and smugly survey the blytonesq scene unfurling before me.

I don't mind hosing it down from time to time but I don't want to have to put it up every day. And I don't want one of those landfill-in-training pop up tents.

Oh and CHEAP, must be CHEAP

And MUST look the part...

you have to have a slab of home made fruit cake too

harpsichordcarrier · 19/02/2008 08:58

freecycle?

harpsichordcarrier · 19/02/2008 08:59

army surplus?

Fillyjonk · 19/02/2008 09:01

yes and lashings of ginger beer . Oh I can do CAKE, cake is easy

have tried army surplus but local army surplus store is run by truly scary survivialist guy who stands around toting guns while you try to shop...

local scout groups? may have one moldering in a cupboard. or last year there were a couple on e-bay being sold by scouts.
and you'll need ginger-beer and marmalade sandwiches.
can i come - it sounds lovely

can you sling a rope between 2 trees and hang a tarpaulin over for true swallows and amazons authenticity?

Fillyjonk · 19/02/2008 09:08

mmj that is perfect!

it even SAYS "you can leave it up all summer"

I dunno what it is with me and ebay, I never seem to use the right words to find what I want, IYKWIM.

sadly fillyjonk for a true blytonesque scene you will ahve to stay indoors being a grumpy professor, baking cakes or getting up to no good on an island (obviously depending on thickness of lips and facial scaring)

Fillyjonk · 19/02/2008 09:11

ah have found another one [http://www.muddypuddles.com/adventure/action-stations/green-canvas-2-man-tent here]]

am emailing them both to find out the footprint
