Ah yes, that research does suggest it doesn't work @Grimbelina. What I notice about the research though is that it doesn't seem to use a test subject (human or animal) to see if they were affected, so it could be true that the device interferes with the behaviour of the pests in relation to the animal.
Also, we have a rickety old cabin and use an utrasonic mouse deterrent that definitely works. Loads of droppings when it runs out of battery, no droppings when it's switched on.
