One of those lightweight teardrop shaped caravans with an air awning! Currently in a 2002 Conway Countryman folding camper which is lovely but I can't do the full awning on my own so have to rely on my young adult children to help. Saw the little caravans at the NEC show last week and fell in love with them!!.

once my children don't want to come away with me any more then a teardrop caravan it is!

what is your dream camping buy?

Multiroom self inflating blackout tent. And a car to transport it in, as I can't see me managing it on the train along with the rest of the kit 😂

youngestisapsycho · 02/03/2023 09:29

If I won the lottery I'd never go camping again 😂

A tent. That is tall enough for me to stand in the bedroom (I'm only a short squat at 5'4"). That is blackout in bedroom. That has sitting space. That has a porch or awning over outside space to cook somewhat sheltered when raining (I camp in Ireland - it always rains). And that I can erect by myself.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to get all of those things in 1 tent so I can put up ky Vango Beta XL 450 myself but can't stand to get dressed nor be sheltered from rain while cooking.

Or I can make sure there's 1 other person around to put up my Vango 5 man thing with a porch and tall enough for me - but huge for just me (and does need at least 1 more, pref 2, to erect).

The Hymer Venture. We went to see it at Travelworld after the NEC show last week. Amazing. I could live in it.

Conqueror UEV 490 camping trailer with full awning and all of the extras. Expensive and I would need to import so would need that lottery win. Conqueror UEV 490

I'd buy a van and do a van conversion myself bc I think they're so much nicer than any off peg vehicle - plus way cheaper than standard RVs

Like the ones Nate Murphy shows on his YouTube

I'd also make sure I got a bell tent awning for it complete with bunting and fairy lights

crackofdoom · 02/03/2023 20:27

But the joy of camping is that you don't need to win the lottery to do it! 😆

(see, I came on to share my plan to buy a beautiful old farm and build an award- winning, ground breaking eco village on the grounds, which I would fill with local families on low incomes).

blobby10 · 03/03/2023 08:53

@crackofdoom agree to some extent but it would be SO nice to replace my 2002 Countryman folding camper with an up to date one or with a micro caravan and I'm never going to be able to afford to save up the £'000's in real life so have to dream of winning a lottery I never play cos I can't afford the tickets 😂😂😂 ps I do love your plan for a farm xxx

If I win the lottery I'll buy a camp site and make it a really great place for people to come. Large pitches, great facilities, open all year and all the other things I love about camping.

swapcicles · 11/03/2023 14:31

Yep I'd buy a campsite!
Thought about it for years but never had the chance.
With excellent loos, nice views and animals of some sort. 😁
I camp regularly but like to have a comfortable but minimum setup.
#Biddypop try the kampa/dometic brean, Vango Harris or a teepee, one pole a few pegs and you're done!

Swift Basecamp 4 with an awning so that I can bob about the Lakes doing my Wainwrights and occasionally go further afield.

I think you need to win it to pay for some of the campsites now!!£60 a night some of them!

SnuggleBuggleBoo · 11/03/2023 16:12

I'm addicted to all those 'tiny home' Youtube vids. You know, the ones that are so popular in North America, basically a shed on wheels but it's all 'reclaimed' this and 'rustic' that. It'd be amazing to be the sort of person who could create something like that but a) I'm not that sort of person and b) I don't think they're actually legal in the UK

crackofdoom · 12/03/2023 10:06

snugglebuggle it's not that tiny homes are illegal per se, but you would need planning permission to live in one (or in anything- caravan, truck) on the land you put it on. And that's pretty difficult to acquire.

lionesses you can find cheaper campsites, but they do tend to be the ones without proper websites etc, so more difficult to find. Try searching for "Farm camping" on Google Maps.

BiddyPop · 16/03/2023 13:05

Ooh, Swapsiccles, thank you! Both of those look exactly what I am looking for!
