Duinrell - via eurocamp or direct??

We are looking at this for the whitsun week and have just had a quote for 4 nights via Eurocamp for £599!!!

We want to do the Harwich Hook route through as we live 25 mins from Harwich which is adding £164 to the price, but it dos seem £££

ANy tips??

Happy to look at a week or 4 nights, tried taking a car and going by bike.

We're going for five nights over Easter, and it was cheaper to book through Eurocamp rather than the Duinrell site. We've got a great deal, think it was only about £160. Our ferry was expensive but we are going Hull to Rotterdam, although that was actually cheaper than I have seen it in the past.
Sorry no help at all there was I I think that we have been very lucky with Easter falling so early this year.

selectcamp have prices without the ferry but I don't know if that works out cheaper.

There's always hefty supplements added on for Duinrell!

You can do better than that I'm sure. Have a look at the Canvas and Keycamp brochures.

TBH booking ditect with Duinrell isn't going to save over the big companies....I've looked and even with taking a tent it isn't that much cheaper.

It is a fantastic place, my kids love it.

Food on site isn't that good, but there is a reasonable supermarket on site that will do the basics.

If you do via Calais and drive, shop in Cite Europe

we could save going via Calais, BUT we are 2 hours from dover, then a 3 hour drive there. Harwich is 25 mons from home and 25 mins to Duinrell. Looking at taking the bikes no car saves about £50 that's it!! I have tried Canvas and Keycamp.

That selectcamp looks promising £153 for accommadation, the Dungalows are £193 - £230. BUT they seem better equiped than the mobile homes !!!!

shop around and book via quidco to get more money off. We went with Eurocamp in the Oct half terma nd it was only £115 for the 4 of us for 4 nights!!! The mobiles were fab - had everything you need. Duinrell is excellent!! I'd try every operator as well as looking direct. The drive to/from Calais is dead easy - we're 2 hrs from Dover too and the journey was fine - enhjoyed the shopping in France - you could spend the extra ferry supplements money on lots of wine and cheese in France!

food maybe better in france, but TBH why drive 5 hours when you can drive 1!!! That is also a tank of petrol which costs £50-£60, so I suppose I am saving that!!

The oct half term is far cheaper than whtsun even at brochure prices, I will look at quidco too

I think I'd stick with Harwich. Once you get off the ferry you're virtually there. We are an hour from Harwich and felt the extra for going via the Hook was well worth it.

Direct Ferries seem to come out at between £200 - £250 for Harwich - Hook

I meet someone who did it with tesco points thingys on that route as they were going toamsterdam - so if you have the points with them can you get it cheaper that way?

Duinrell is about 45 mins from the Hook of Holland. By car, taking into account traffic congestion.

It is on a cycle route (natch)

Onsite supermarket will have all the basics that you need, There is also another supermarket in the town

yes I could use tesco points for the crossing, I am trying to work out the best value tbh!!

I have enough tesco vouchers for 4 tickets to Paris by Eurostar - £100 worth, which I have been saving for us to use this year!! or I could use £50 worth to pay for the ferry and then continuie to save Tesco vouchers for Paris another day!!!- bonkers I know!!

Had a leaflet through today:Canvas are doing book by 7 Feb and save upto 25% over Whitsun, although unclear from the promo whether it includes Duinrell - you can but ask!

We went when ds 12m old, and stayed in a Jubilee somethingorother which I thought was v well equipped. Also the Canvas ones are positioned at the side of the site & although didn't have the decking that some had, it was far enough away from the noise of the centre and didn't get kids playing outside late at night.

Had a lovely holiday there, despite dh finding out just how efficient the Hague Hosp. is! The on-site supermarket is perfectly good, and there are at least 2 off site about 5mins drive away, as well as another nice one in the pedestrianised shopping area, about a 5 mins walk directly across from the camp entrance.

We took the fast ferry there (a bit crowded and a bit rough) and the slow one back (we arrived early at the port and were offered the choice of going on the slower ferry with free meals & free cabin/showers) which was bliss for us as we were all so tired & had longish drive home.
