Recommend me a campsite in Cornwall please....

Please recommend me a campsite in Cornwall, that:

Allows dogs
Within say 45 minutes of Newquay (DD is going to Boardmasters so figure we may as well camp down there if we are making the long journey).

Anything else is optional but we prefer laid back rather than huge camping/caravan site. Ideally we'd like to do lovely walks and beaches (ones we can take a dog on in August).

Lansallos campsite is absolutely beautiful, with stunning sea views and a dog friendly beach below. It is 45 mins from Newquay but that wouldn't include finding parking. It is National Trust.

Thanks @Movinghouseatlast I put in the postcode and it says 57 mins from Newquay, which might be a little far. It does look a lovely little site though so one for the camping bank.

Tregarton Park is fairly relaxed and allows dogs.

They sell food, hot food, have a pool and you can even have a cool glass of wine poolside.

Just can't remember if it's in your travel requirements for Newquay Wink

There’s a small back to basics site called Higher Pendeen which allows dogs by prior arrangement (if they don’t already have too many staying). The nearby beach allows dogs all year round.
Trewan Hall is a lovely site with lots of facilities but it’s not commercial and never feels too busy.
Further afield there’s Mill Meadow in St Kew.

Mother Ivey’s Bay is gorgeous. near to Padstow, I would say approx 35-40 mins from Newquay.

Thanks everyone, I’ll definitely check these out x

You might not be able to rely on the travel times being precisely accurate on Boardmasters weekend!

Bayleaf25 · 27/11/2022 09:08

@parrotonmyshoulder don’t worry, I’m fully expecting that bit to be a nightmare.

For next summer? You may need to just go for what you can get. So many great campsites went to a ballot for pitches and that's already happened.

I only know this as I was not in the ballot I needed to be 🙈😔😆

Second Mother Iveys Bay.

You can walk to 4 different beaches, 6 if you really like walking, from there and its close enough to Newquay. Plus it has its own beach!

It is pretty large and also has static caravans on site, but it is very 'naice' and doesn't have a 'holiday park' feel really.

Its very popular but Watergate Bay Touring Park on the cliffs just above Watergate Bay about 5 miles north of Newquay is ideal for Boardmasters. I stayed there when my teens went to the festival - they walked across every morning for a shower and breakfast, chilled with me for a couple of hours then headed back to their own tents at the festival.

The site itself is lovely - small shop, cafe and bar with entertainment in the high season, under 1/2 mile from the coast path and a short stroll down to the beach.

Forgot to add - allows dogs as does Watergate Bay. However having read your original post again, you might not want to be that near your DD! I just liked being able to check mine on a daily basis and make sure they still had all their fingers and toes Grin Plus if they did had a problem (DS had his phone stolen from his tent whilst he was sleeping!) it wasn't far to travel to sort him out.

Magic Cove at Mawgan Porth is dog friendly and close to Watergate Bay. I would take Google travel times with a large pinch of salt during Boardmasters btw.😁
