Eurocamp vs Canvas Holidays

Thinking about going to Spain for a couple of weeks in June.

Several of the sites I like have both Canvas and Eurocamp.

Would prefer to be in a tent rather than a static. Apart from the difference in lay-out in the tents, are they much of a muchness?

Anybody been to Spain with either of these organisations?

We have Eurocamped once before with no problems.

LOL I was in the middle of replying when DH came back from football and gave me the 'on mn again?' look.
Have stayed in both their mobiles, and not much to choose between them tbh. The Canvas tents look more spacious, with the separate kitchen.
I'd choose Canvas for the kids club, but your DC are too young for this to be a consideration IIRC

The clubs start age 4 so dd1 could go but not dd2....not sure how that would work in practice, as the dds are practicaly joined at the hip.

If your kids are small the gate can 'lock off' the kitchen area keeping them out of danger.

yes the kitchen in the corner with gate does look good, but part of me likes the 'sleeping in a line' aspect of the eurocamp ones.

Lay out is not such a deal breaker. Customer service, cleanliness of tents, value etc...I was wondering if there is any difference.

The masterplan is to get DH under canvas again in a sunny clime so he re-falls in love with the concept of family camping holidays (rather than self catering cottages).

Price them up, that will focus your mind.

We have been with both and as I remember, Eurocamp is more expensive.

I have also found the Canvas reps more helpful.

Been a Eurocamp rep and got a job with Eurosites (a spin-off) - oh, a life-time ago. They are all much of a muchness.

Four years ago, we went to a lovely campsite in Asturias, at the end of season and basically, all the companies ended up using the same rep/cleaning team. Saying that, hiring through the campsite, itself, would have been cheaper. The Spanish are not prepared to pay what the English are, even high-season.

Where were you thinking of going to?

Canvas Holidays used to be independent, but are now part of Cottages4you.

No idea if that makes any difference to their service though

Efficient with the paperwork.

We had a static which was really well equipped and friend very happy with her tent.

Don't know if this is typical but Eurocamp tents were nearest the main action, then Canvas tents. Canvas statics further set back than Eurocamp. We were pleased about this because our son was only a yr old & meant we could get an earlyish night & not a lot of people disturbing us, whilst friend with teenagers liked the livelier atmosphere at the heart of the centre.

Been with Canvas 6 times and never been with Eurocamp. We've only stayed in mobile homes and the Canvas ones seemed much nicer than the Eurocamp ones and Canvas is cheaper! Only been to Spain once and that was with Camping Life (same company as Canvas) but we had a great time!

Been with Canvas Holidays many a time, in both tents and mobiles. Can recomend them a lot.

Apart from what others have said re layout and pitch, something i had heard is that all Canvas couriers have to be educated to a-level in the country's language, whereas Eurocamp don't need to speak a word of the language.

try "selectcamp" see if they do your destination.

one might have a fancier kettle ( cafatiere in eurocamps case) or more spoons - but lets face it hopefully ifthe holiday is a success you wnt be spending ooodles of time there.
