October in Scotland in a campervan

Anyone done it? It'll be just me and at least one of my DC, maybe both (one might stay home with my husband). I have a VW T4 and some of the sites we are looking at don't have EHU, I'm just concerned about how cold it may get overnight. I would love to hear from anyone who has done it, I appreciate it probably won't be that cold during the day but I am a bit worried about night time, especially if we use the pop top.

When in October? And where in scotland?

I wouldn’t but I’m the world’s biggest temperature wimp

Haha, I think I would be fine but am worried the kids might find it a bit challenging. I think we would probably be ok if we didn't have the pop top up to sleep in.

It might get cold in the pop top at night.
Can you buy, make or borrow one of those insulatey things that wraps around the canvas?

If not, I suggest an all-season sleeping bag. And hot water bottles.

In October you should have a good choice of sites - see if you can find ones with EHU?

I camp all year round in Scotland - but then I have small tent and a very warm sleeping bag available, and happily put up with the privations to be able to wander empty hiolls.

You are on the coast, this will of course (famous last words) stop it being frosty. But, October is the time that the frosts and mountain snows arrive, as well as the first of the winter storms. It can be a weather lottery, but it can also be some of the most beautiful time of the year up here with amazing autumn colours.

Make sure you go to Cannich and up into Glen Affric - the most beautiful of Scottish glens in autumn in my book. It is on your route.

Thank you @outdooryone - I will put those on my list to visit. I am really looking forward to it. Two of the sites definitely have EHU but one doesn't- I think we should be ok for one night. I can perhaps get some insulation for the pop top if necessary.
