Up to 3.5 hours from Calais

Hi hoping you can come up with some good suggestions.

I'd like to go camping with my two boys (8&14) in the summer. We have finally all got passports, so want to strike out a bit further afield than normal. Am thinking about getting the tunnel across to Calais. Only have a 5 day period free so no more than 3.5 hours after getting off the train would be great.

Original plan was CAMPING LA CROIX DU OLD PONT and doing a day trip to Paris but looking at the reviews, it's a bit old and tired now.

We are not tied to going to France, happy to head out towards Belgium or Netherlands. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Only really must have is a decent swimming pool.

Thanks

Duinrell in the Netherlands is right on the 3.5 hours from the tunnel limit but is fantastic with children. We went for five days and the journey wasn't too bad. It has one of the best indoor aquaparks in Europe (and an outdoor pool too). It also has an online theme park, a lovely town with a great ice cream shop close by and us not far from Amsterdam for a day trip.

I agree that Duinrell is good. There is a Facebook group that’s helpful if you want advice on what area of the site to book. The theme park is free but I think you have to pay for the pool if you camp.

Haven't been (yet) but Huttopia Versailles looks good. Heated pool, bike hire, on the veloscenic cycle route, quick train into Paris, and obviously Versailles is there too.

Camping International De Jablines near Paris - no pool but there is a swimming lake with watersports. There is a shopping centre nearby where you can park and catch the train into Paris.

We have also driven into The Netherlands from the tunnel and camped here. There is lots to see within about an hour - we went to Amsterdam and Efteling which is my favourite theme park, your 14 year old may seem too old but my teen can’t wait to go back next year Grin

We've stayed here and it was ok but the pool was only small.

I wish we'd gone to duinrell whilst the children were smaller Sad
