Please could anyone recommend anywhere on the Isle of Wight for camping. Will be I. August and would like as winning pool and near a sandy beach. Not pebbly.
We will be going for a week or ten days so somewhere with plenty to do but not too rowdy.
Fussy I know! Grin

Camping near a sandy beach...there's a couple of Haven parks that do camping too, one at Thorness Bay and one at Nodes Point near At. Helens. Whitcliffe Bay? Can't remember if their beach is sandy or not.

If you are prepared to compromise on the sand then Grange Farm is lovely

If you don't mind a caravan park - Lower Hyde by Parkdean Resorts. Camping field at the top of the site, loo/shower block, indoor and outdoor pool, and little shop onsite. Just outside the park there's a big Coop and Lidl, and Shanklin town centre is just a few minutes walk. It's about 20 minutes walk down to the sandy beach, and if you don't feel like driving, the rail station is just outside the park to go to Sandown or Ryde.

I've always found the toilet blocks at the isle of wight parkdean sites to be okay. And the one at st Helens is right near the beach. Another good site is the orchards at Newbridge. A drive to the nearest beach which would be Compton bay but good clean site with a pool and not a rowdy site at all.

Thorness Bay is a fab place to camp. The beach has pebbles at the top but sand when the tide is out. Entertainment is good but a bit of a walk from the camping part.

Nodes Point and Whitecliff Bay are also great, Whitecliff is my favourite.

Tbf there are so many wonderful sandy beaches (Appley, Compton as examples) that wherever you stay, you'll not be far from one!

Come and visit, loads to do here - you'll be too busy to worry about a beach!

If you don’t want a caravan park, then I’d recommend Ninham Holidays

Ditsy79 · 14/03/2022 20:29

We spent 2 weeks at ninham last summer @Fivemoreminutes1. We thought it was a fabulous campsite - great size pitches, clean toilets and showers, even a swimming pool.

I don't know much about camping but I use a site called isle of white Guru.
I have just checked and there is a list of the best camping sights on it. When I used it to book our caravan holiday I got a discount on the stay and the ferry travel . There are also some really good ideas for days out. www.isleofwightguru.co.uk
