Camping & caravan club worth it?

Is it worth joining the camping & caravan club?
We have just bought our 1st tourer (yay!!) so excited to go to lots of different sites.
Anyone bought this?

We're members of the caravan and motorhome club. I like that we don't have to pay until we arrive so plans can be flexible (although there are penalties for cancelling last minute too often). Plus you can guarantee that the toilet and shower blocks will be of a certain standard.

I join when I want to stay on one of their sites, then let it lapse after the year is up until the next time.
We've enjoyed the Sandringham site several times now. If you are planning on a particular site you soon save your money back.
Each site has been of a high standard.

My friend was in this for years and made some wonderful friends.we have a site in our village and it is always busy only 6 pitches I think. Friend’s son is in it now. Toured a lot of Scotland.Never heard any negatives. Why not give it a go for a year.

I'd recommend. We pretty much always use their sites now (under canvas for us) and find them well run and civilised. Other campers/caravanners tend to be families and older couples, some tourists from overseas. Rowdy groups tend not to be encouraged on their sites. I haven't counted up but pretty sure the membership/discount pays off.

They have some pretty nice sites but we decided to leave after a few years as there are so many other sites which are a bit less restrictive when it comes to camp fires etc. Although we very much enjoyed our years with CC, booking system is nice and easy and they are very accommodating. Can feel a bit pensioner/motorhome heavy sometimes if you are tent ppl like ourselves

Darklane · 03/03/2022 20:15

Definitely. You get a substantial reduction on overnight stays if you’re a member rather than staying as a non member plus there are hundreds of small, 5 unit only, campsites called CLs that only members can stay at. They can be in some wonderful places & are cheaper than the bigger sites. The main campsites are always well run with excellent facilities.
There’s also the Camping & Caravan Club which is similar but has sites in different areas, plus tent people can use those. They also have the member only small sites all over the U.K..
We have a motorhome & have been members of both clubs for years, financially alone well worth the subscriptions.

Darklane · 03/03/2022 20:18

Sorry, just noticed you said the Camping & Caravan Club & my first instance was for the Caravan & Motorhome Club but all still applies.

fuzzyduck1 · 08/03/2022 09:36

I joined them last year but haven’t used any of there sites yet.
Also in caravan and Motorhome club.
It just gives us more options on staying on smaller campsites if we want to.

Is it worth it if you have a tent?

My friend in the later years did this activity, although they once were not impressed as some campers were trying to reserve spaces on a camping site for their friends to arrive.

We were members for tent use. Really enjoyed it, sites a certain standard, quiet time after 11pm etc. Lots of rules but all meant to give everyone a nice peaceful break.

We love the C&CC for all the rallies and temporary holiday sites. Spend August bank holidays a fields walk from a lovely beach at Burton Bradstock, (walkable to West Bay) Dorset for about £12/night.
Just had a lovely weekend in the new forest, quick walk into Lymington for £10/night when all proper sites wanted £40!
There are rallies almost every weekend of the year if you are prepared to use your own on board facilities, and they are so relaxed and friendly.

daclarke35 · 22/10/2024 12:50

If I could give zero stars I would. Joined in August and have been unable to find any sites we can book via the SiteSeeker app - utterly rubbish archaic design, no filters etc - or via telephone, since when I have called the 'systems have been down'. I believe I was told I had 80 days to cancel, I am a week over the apparent 8 weeks cancellation period and they are quibbling a refund. Have cancelled my membership as it is utterly pointless and will persist with pursuing a refund since we have gained absolutely nothing from this useless subscription. The site is appalling, the app is worse, the customer services pass you onto someone else and systems for cancellation and refund are overly complicated. I have used other, free, online sites to book time away in our van without issue. As it is, the C&CC is light years behind and have the audacity to charge for what amounts to no benefit at all. I'd advise you avoid and use other apps and sites out there that provide far, far superior experiences. Not at all surprised that 66% of TrustPilot reviews are 1 star; 76% 2 stars or fewer.

We’re members of both CAMC & CCC mainly for their certified location sites which a pp mentioned. We love these small sites and there are loads of them with a variety of facilities. Both clubs have a “festival” each year. We went to CAMC Clubfest last year and are going again this year. It was great fun and very well organised.
