Awning - repair or new recommendations

Hoping for some advice and/or recommendations from fellow touring caravan owners. Our Sunncamp air awning is leaking (even just from overnight dew) and when we had torrential rain in Scotland it was dripping very steadily through the roof and along the seams. Our stuff got soaked.

We inherited it with our caravan so it’s had several years of use before us.

So wise Mumsnet caravan owners, have you got any advice for the next step? Do I waterproof the hell out of it using Fabsil or similar? Or am I best cutting my losses and investing in a new awning? And if so, what type? We are a family of five with kids 6 and under so I’m slightly fearful of the pole type of Isabella awning (even though I hear they’re the best of the best for endurance and rain) just in case it takes us all day to put the thing up…

Thanks in advance for your ideas!

I have the Outwell pebble 420 air awning and like it. Very quick to put up and not too expensive to buy

Thank you @LosingMyHair123 - will take a look at that model. Our budget is limited so it’s good to know we can buy one in that range that works well and goes up easily Grin

@3littleowls
Use Fabsil Gold. Premium compared to basic Fabsil and nearly always works

Thank you very much for that tip! I’ll give it a go Smile

Email Fabsil they recommended a paint on one for ours it wasn't cheap but once on it lasts years

Seam sealer, too.

But basically if the fabric has gone a bit crispy or the inner polyurethane layer has degraded, it is beyond re-proofing.

Polyester awnings snd tents don’t have a huge long life under UV light so if it has done a few sunny summers it may we’ll have had it.
