If a site says no PUP tents

Does it mean at all, or as your main tent? I don't have a toilet tent so was thinking of taking the pup tent to put it in. Can't see there's any difference, no one will be sleeping in it.

IME it means no secondary tents on your pitch of whatever nature.

Why don't you use the campsite's toilets?

Can you not get in touch direct with the campsite direct and check? If they don't pick up, take it anyway. I don't know how I'd manage without the camping khazi for midnight wees!

They probably don’t want two groups sharing a pitch as this would affect their income. They maybe ok with you using one as a toilet tent, ask them.

@HJ40 I will in general, but am campibg alone with 2 small children, its more for after bedtime wees for me.

In covid times most campsites are encouraging use of own facilities where possible- some ive stayed are even renting single portaloos to campers. I'd take the pup and toilet.

Some campsites have a rule that tents must be Xm apart due to fire hazard. We got caught out on it once.

If you are at the forest camping ones where you have to take a toilet tent asthere are no facilities then they mean a toilet tent - i.e. the tall ones, as they check to see it has to have a proper toilet in it of either variety - the bucket or the posh ones.

You couldnt use a proper sit down toilet in a pup tent - they just dont have the head height.

A pup tent and a toilet tent are different things. I don’t think no pup tents means no toilet tents.

I don't have a toilet tent, hence thinking to take the pup tent. I could easily use the porta potty in it if need be, I don't wee standing up.

Seems thus sure has rules it doesn't enforce in any case, so probably could have got away with it

I think I would put the toilet in the living area, to save all that unzipping at night.

I would just have the bucket in the day part of your tent, much easier to manage.

My friend tried out the carrier bag and cat litter in wee bucket recently and said it was a fab plan and worked perfectly. Makes it much quieter as dampens the noise and no risk of spills as the litter soaks it all up!

Pup really means for sleeping in, I've never had any problem when I've shown its just for storage.

I'd assume no extra tents. Can you get it out in the corner of your tent for overnight ( we do this but have a family sized tent you cannstand up in.)

Get a tarp and attach to your main tent one end, back of pup tent other end hey presto one tent with two rooms!

We have a “Bog in a Bag” in the porch for the kids’ night time weed. Works well.
