Our UK Camping forum has all the information you need on finding the right equipment for your tent or caravan.

Does such a campsite as this exist - for one tent only?

DS2 wants to camp somewhere where we'd be on our own, basically wild camping only without the trespassing angle Grin

Just wondering if anyone had ever stayed at a 'one-pitch' site in mainland UK or knew where I might find listings for these?

Bonus marks if it is by a lake and/or mountain and if it has some kind of basic toilet facility!

Or happy to stay in a yurt, shepherd's hut, bothy... The remoteness and solitude is the key thing!

Can't you just wild camp? We do it a lot if it's just one night and one tent. Go to middle of nowhere, avoid farmers fields and choose a fell or open access area.

There are exclusive large pitches for instance bakes down farm in Cornwall or ty parke in Pembrokeshire
Also baxby manor for adults only
I recommend all above

Search for secluded camping, secluded pitches or exclusive pitches. Unfortunately not a lot of them where I live

Aprilshowersandhail · 14/04/2021 21:47

It really is!! Been about 8 times. Dc are 6, 13, 14 +15..First time was 3 years ago.. Can't fault the camping in the woods option not the softie garden pitches!!

MegBusset · 14/04/2021 22:05

@Aprilshowersandhail that looks PERFECT! Do you know if the safari tents all feel nice and remote?

Just wild camp or stay in a mountain bothy? Plenty options in Scotland where trespass laws don't exist. Just make sure you stick to the Outdoor Access Code.

You could try this website. I've joined but not been anywhere yet, so can't vouch for how good it might be.

@KnowIWay dig a hole.

Otter Vale Wild Camping is pretty small and might suit your needs.

Trespass is soon to be illegal, if you don't own the land or ask permission to camp, this is trespass and you'll be moved on at first, second time fined heavily and 3rd time vehicle seized. Once moved you aren't allowed to camp in that area for a year.

At least 700 years of your race and culture isn't to be removed, but you'll still be criminals if caught

There are a few places in the country where you can wildcamp. Out of sight of roads etc. We've camped like this in parts of Scotland and Dartmoor. No toilet. Post covid rules may change due to people taking advantage.

A bothy or small camping barn is a great option. Not just in Scotland.

Then lots of small campsites. Lots of them glamping type places.

Where in the country do you want to go?

Northernsoullover · 25/04/2021 19:12

Host unusual for mix of yurts etc

Unescorted · 25/04/2021 19:22

Most bothys are closed at the moment.

Just wild camp - it is still legal for the moment. Walk in late and leave early, take your rubbish with you and no one is going to bother... We live in a very popular National Park and have had loads of wild campers. So long as you are tidy no one cares.

If you want the SE Beech Wood Estate ‘far away’ pitches might suit.

Lots of Shepherds Huts are on their own in a field on a farm.

I own a Shepherds hut myself which is alone in a small meadow in my garden, but there are lots that are totally remote. Have a look on Air BnB.
