Thinking of hiring Motorhome

Hi all
I was thinking of hiring a Motorhome for a 10 day trip round south west England/ Wales, maybe in the Easter hols, there are 5 of us and two dogs.
Never having done it before I wondered if anyone had any words of wisdom or do's and don'ts, or even whether it's a good idea at all?

Firstly make sure you driving licence allows you to drive it.
Be certain of the height in Meters and feet.
Make sure you understand how to change gas and work everything before you go.

Book a vehicle and pitches well in advance! I know so many people who did what you are describing this summer.
