I don't have a picture but I have a camping stove with three rings (two would be enough) and a little thing that flips down over one of the rings to do toast on. It runs off a camping gaz bottle. It sits on a unit I bought in Go Outdoors which has a zipped cupboard which is handy for keeping the non chilled food in.

Then I have an inflatable cool bag from Decathlon which works incredibly well and a big Outwell kitchen bag with storage for my saucepans, plates and cutlery.

God I love camping Grin

Motorhome kitchen. It's lovely but awfully wee!

It took me a good couple of years to perfect my camping kitchen (tent camping)

I fell to the expensive branded kitchen set up (vango) although I bought it second hand but was probably over £70 new - I got a steal at a tenner.

The fold out set ups are too low - I spent too much time bending down over it and it killed my back. Totally not fit for purpose.

Now I use the Aldi camping wardrobe (table on top and 3 shelves with mesh below) for storage and preparation and (see photo attached) for food prep and utensil storage.

No bending and if purchasing full price, tonnes cheaper.

So I'm hopefully having a

& something to cook on and a mini fridge

So exciting!!

Two gas rings. And a pressure cooker for them, luxury after years on a single camping gas burner. And a roast rack.

RomaineCalm · 05/06/2020 23:33

I have two 'briefcase' camping stoves on a folding table and can do pretty much anything. I keep looking at a proper kitchen but can't justify any more kit.

The things that made most difference to our camping cooking were an Icey Tek coolbox, a sturdy windbreak and a proper frying pan!

KatyMac · 06/06/2020 00:15

Maybe one gas ring and a mini microwave? Or would a toaster be more important?

I'd probably eat stir fry or bacon sandwiches or beans on toast

I wonder how small I could make it?

I've got one of these - so maybe start with that?

Or should I leave that to DD for actual camping and buy a briefcase thingie?

I have a gas stove with grill under (so nice to have toast!) On a folding camping set up. This is lovely because the flame is protected from the wind and I have all the food and crockery etc in the cupboard. I also have space for a washing up bowl and full size draining rack.

Love it!

This is the kitchen we have in our campervan. I think it's a fairly standard hob and sink. We bought a VW van and then had it converted . We also run an inverter off a solar panel and we have a specially converted microwave which runs off it which is actually fantastic for doing baked potatoes and warming up ready meals. We got the microwave for £99 off eBay.

A small portable gas barbecue (one side grill the other hot plate) and a Trangia. Works beautifully for 4 adults. For rice/pasta etc we boil the water and let the pasta sit in that for about 20 minutes with the lid on. Meat fish on the BBQ and any veggies go on the trangia over a low heat.
Trangia packs up tiny and the pans can all be used on the bbq hot palate

Malin52 · 07/06/2020 12:40

And for toast we use a pyramid toaster over the bbq.

PurBal · 08/06/2020 07:17

We have an MSR Pocket Rocket which suits us. But from the post it looks like you may be after something bigger?

KatyMac · 08/06/2020 08:16

Do you know @PurBal I no longer have a clue!

There is so much choice and I am indecisive anyway!! Grin

I have a campingaz party grill and an individual hob. I also bought a pizza stone for the party grill. We are considering a table top oven with two hobs on top for our longer camps. We tend to hire a fridge freezer on longer camps too which makes all the difference.

Seriously???!!!!

Blondephantom · 08/06/2020 11:30

Yes, seriously. We camped for four weeks in the Costa Brava last year. It was worth having. I wouldn't bother for a week or if I was camping somewhere cooler. We camp differently depending on if it is our main holiday or a shorter break.

KatyMac · 09/06/2020 13:44

Thanks everyone - lots of info to research

We have a two ring hob and a fridge in a pod

We have a full width bed in swb van

Shower/tap is in the boot

Overfullwardrobe · 10/06/2020 17:15

We have a unit that pulls out from under the bed at the back of our lwb transporter. It's got two gas rings and a sink, and a cupboard for storing all the kitchen stuff, and has a 12v plug, so we can plug our cool box into it.

We have a Coleman petrol powered twin burner stove, its much better than gas, cheaper to run and boils a lot quicker, its also compact as no big gas bottle to lug around.

ComeBy · 16/06/2020 19:01

Wow Mum4Fergus - how come all that is available for the price?

I see the extra tables are extra, but still! For the 'fully functional' model you get the sink etc!

Squidsister · 15/08/2020 08:34

Yes I am also intrigued by that kitchen @Mum4Fergus, can you let us know what it is like?
