Interested in pros and cons, though I could only afford a 2nd hand one.

My partner and I spent a week on the west coast of Australia in one. So much fun. We've been thinking about buying a new house with a driveway just so we can park up a van and build it out!

Sorry....that meant to read a month.

We used to have a T4 VW but with dogs and kids we outgrew it. We now have a 80s motorhome. Its brilliant. We are really missing getting out in it this year. From about the end of March we go away most weekends.

I would really love a VW camper van. We planned to trial it first and had one booked to take it for a weeks holiday from next Monday but it has been cancelled. I was more gutted at that being cancelled than my earlier holiday to NY!

We have a motorhome and I'd recommend it!

Be aware that VW campers are expensive and your paying for the popular appeal of the name, if you avoid them your money will go a lot further. Avoid cheap VWs, there's never a good reason for a VW camper to be cheap.

If you're prepared to buy an older vehicle, you may be surprised what's affordable. Some 1990s motorhomes were well built and going strong, look at models by Hymer.

Sorry to be late to come back ! I am shocked by the number of replies! I think dh would rather die than have a caravan. Lots of very useful info though.

We have a big swift 686 6 berth motorhome.

It's lovely and very comfy but it's massive. You can't really take it into town!

I do love it though but wish it was a wee bit smaller
