...The replacement tent, that is, after the first one leaked in 6 places. Well, we went away for the weekend to test-drive the replacement (our garden too small to put it up) and were unimpressed to find 2 holes in it, a very weak section on the fabric and a fault in the stitching. So. DH phoned up this morning and it's being collected tomorrow, the company were very apologetic - good customer service, actually - and I don't think we'll be buying another Vango! So now we'll spend the winter surfing tent porn, having to start our search all over again - wah!
Will also be changing my MN name, for obvious reasons!

There was one with a fault this season, was it that one or were you just unlucky?

Can recomend the Outwell Montana ;)

Vango had to recall the Killington, I believe, - or some of them, anyway, but ours was a Breckenridge. Fantastic layout, great family living space, never getting one again!!!!
Have seen lots of Montanas this summer. Nice looking tent, but have heard (DH lurks on UK Campsite) that Outwell have had a few..... issues with quality this summer too! - Any manufacturer can produce the occasional duff tent, I suppose, but we're feeling rather blue about it all.

Sorry NotAlert, your only course of action if you want a "proper" tent is to go for canvas next time...

If its any help we bought an outwell indiana this year (never having bought a tent before), and have found it to be brilliant. It has stood up to gale force winds, and torrential rain - an obvious statement to make probably after this summer - whilst others around us were being flooded. Obviously this is the only one that i can comment on, but just thought i'd let you know that we have found nothing wrong with Outwell.

Justadad - haven't you been on here before raving about canvas tents? I don't fancy having to have the trailer to lug one around in!
Marymoo - thanks for that, also saw a few Indianas this summer, and they also look good - I wasn't meaning to say that Outwell have huge problems or anything, just that DH said that he'd read about a few problems with them, but then that can happen with any brand.

DH is now wondering about a Wild Country Homestead type thing - don't remember seeing any mention of those on here, anyone got one? DSIL has one, but it's last year's model and doesn't have a SIG, and I've said I'm definitely a SIG fan (although earwig repellant would also be appealing )

can't rave enough about the Khyam Ontario, 7 trips, no leaks!

Trialled a sunncamp canvas model thinking we'd be complete converts and end up spending mucho dosho on one, it was awful!

Should we ever replace the Khyam it would be the Vermont, but after trialling something else nobody is separating me from my baby!

I suspect that we'll spend the winter agonising over this and drooling over tent porn. DH lusts after canvas, whereas I'm very easy to please - just want a completely watertight tent, with spacious bedrooms and a large living area, a SIG and the ability to fold up so small (and easily) that it will fit into the glove compartment in the car........
