Group campsites in the UK

I've volunteered to try to find options for a biggish group to go camping for the VE Day holiday.

The first site I looked at said No Groups in its terms and I'm worried before I go any further that I'm going to hit that snag a lot.

Does anyone have any recommendations for either actual sites or how I can tailor my research to find good options??

We've only been camping ourselves a handful of times and lots of those have been at festivals so I've not had much experience of finding sites for us - let alone for a group of 8-12 families!

Look at the Camping Unplugged sites.

Also Kingsdown International.

Wherein the country are you? Wowo in Sussex is absolutely ideal for this

Thistledown Farm

Look at the CoolCamping website, lots of places that don’t have set pitches so you can just pitch in a circle.

Woo hoo wasn't expecting such a quick response!! We're very central in the UK and looking for something relatively close so Cotswolds / midlands / east mids / west mids.

Have emailed coolcamping and will get on the other recommendations now.

Woodside country park, ledbury. We've been as a group several times. Swimming lake..fires allowed. Space. walkable to ledbury. And lovely folk running it.

I also came on to say Gwynant. You can't book (or you couldn't when I went) but it's huge and they just let you pitch wherever. It's very laid back and doesn't seem to have the same rules as many other campsites. Plus pizza van at night and bacon van in the morning!

Ciwirocks · 17/02/2020 16:49

We have been allowed to book in qwynant before, they sectioned off an area for us. It’s a very pretty campsite with beautiful scenery. Only downside is the midgies!

We've stayed here as a family group before:

Couldn't fault it.

If you go to Pitchup.com, they have an extensive search option which covers groups, types of camping, facilities etc..

Hayles Fruit Farm is good (near Cheltenham). We've stayed there in big groups.

Golden valley is a great site on the Derbys/notts boarder. We’ve camped there in a group of 8 families. goldenvalleycaravanpark.co.uk/
