So far I've got a new collapsible washing up bowl with handles that I am way too pleased with

Last year we had two new tables with adjustable height. This year I think we may need some new chairs.

So what's on your list for the coming season?

Those chairs do look comfy SmellMy but I think I’d need to try them out before parting with £250 for two camping chairs —looks for church mice emoticon— Smile

Oh god yeah I have no intention of paying that much! Been checking since last August for sales/offers/second hand etc. I would pay £150 for a pair. They are seriously comfy and I'd use them in the garden too (I have no garden furniture!)

JiltedJohnsJulie · 08/02/2020 20:16

I think I might get a really big pan too. Last year we went to Cornwall and happened to be surrounded by Dutch families. They all seemed to cook a one pot meal each night in a huge pan. Looked very easy.

New tent! We have just invested in a 5m canvas bell tent and a log burning stove to go camping early March. It's a bit of a monster and we have just taken it down from the garden tonight after its first trial run in Storm Ciara. Very impressed with it's peerformance so far.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 15/02/2020 10:00

That sounds amazing Diversion. Where are you going camping in March? The earliest we've ever done is the first week of April.

If you're in the market for a new stove and a new giant pan then look at the Safari Chef Cadac it's amazing!!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 15/02/2020 12:14

Oh no Fusion they were way bigger than that! Grin

I want a nice looking table. I’ve seen those bamboo topped ones and like them but they’re a bit £££

What we really need is roof bars but they seem extremely expensive but would make life so much easier. It’s the packing of the car I dread each time we go

Handsnotwands · 15/02/2020 12:48

@Diversion we adore our bell and stove. This will be it’s 8th season and I love it just as much now as I ever did.

CustardOmlet · 16/02/2020 17:17

After many years of trying different camp beds/air beds/mats, I have accepted that my DH cannot sleep in a tent. So this years purchase is a caravan with a good mattress topper. Glad most of the things we have bought over the years will be usable in the awning.

buckeejit · 16/02/2020 17:30

Most of our camping is festivals which makes it hard but will do a few nights elsewhere this year. Thinking of getting a porch.

I bought an amazing sim last year & love it

IdleLiz · 18/02/2020 14:34

Fishing bedchairs are so comfy to sleep in. Go Outdoors has a sale on and the Westlake ones are half price at £75, absolute bargain.

taybert · 18/02/2020 20:45

@AltheaVestr1t which collapsible toilet have you got? I was looking for a more space saving alternative to my Kampa Khazi last year but didn’t find one.

SW16 · 19/02/2020 22:08

I saw someone on another forum recommend a Bivvy Loo

Spyinthewild · 19/02/2020 22:17

I’ve got a Pett toilet, taybert. Highly recommend, mine's 15 years old.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 20/02/2020 08:13

We’re off to the Caravan and Camping Show today at the NEC although we don’t intend on spending anything...Grin

Yes I saw those ones with the bag last year but wasn’t sure about disposing of the bags etc. There is no way I could come away from a camping show empty handed!

Spyinthewild · 20/02/2020 11:40

The pett bags are suitable for ordinary waste bins taybert. They aren’t cheap but worth it IMO. I do a bulk buy every couple of years - not the wag bag but the one recommended for nursing homes !!!! So without the loo roll and the wipe etc. It’s in the product listing on that link somewhere.

I'm thinking about a new tent. I have a Vango Beta 450 which is ok, and still functions fine, about 5 years old. But I have realised that, while it's fine for Cub camp, it's not so great for family camping. Because there is no porch to sit under (or cook under when it's raining), and it's also not tall enough to stand in. There are 2 other Vango's that look like they might do the trick, both sleep 4 which is ideal (normally I am alone on Cub camp although there's capacity for another female adult if needed; and DH says he's too old to camp so refuses to come - just me and DD, although a DSis came once too which was a squeeze but worked for 1 night). There's a distinct possibility that it may be needed on a larger family gathering (for my DP's various DGCs in their garden) this summer, so additional capacity is not the worst idea by then.

I also have my eyes open for a cupboard or camp kitchen type stand - again for family camping purposes. I currently put my 1 ring gas cooker on the table....then eat off my lap.

Jumbojem · 28/02/2020 23:13

VW camper for us! We've been tent campers for years. I'm so excited but we have a lot to learn!

ShriekingBansheela · 29/02/2020 08:17

BiddyPop keep your eyes open for the Lidl and Aldi camping equipment weeks. They often have good kitchen camping cupboards with a worktop.

OneFootintheRave · 29/02/2020 09:06

@SW16 I'm ordering that bivvyloo. Looks perfect for a campervan emergency!

I was born in streatham so noticed your usernameGrin.

For cooking I recommend the mini gas Weber. A spray bottle with a strong washing up liquid solution is good for washing up with minimal water waste. Spray on and wipe down dishes then use more water only for final rinse.

Solar shower is a winner but I live in a sunny country.

She wee for having a quick waz on a hike.

Lubilu28 · 29/02/2020 20:14

Going Cornwall in July with a 4 and 1 year old. Need a travel cot small enough to fit in between the beds of the trailer tent. Thinking of getting a inflatable sofa bed incase said 1 year old decides he doesn’t want to sleep in his travel cot lol also gives us somewhere to lounge! Really want a new table and chair set but waiting till kids are bigger. Hoping by that time DH changes his mind about a caravan lol

reallynow1 · 29/02/2020 22:27

I'm excited this yr as can fit more in car as need no travel cot and no pushchair for the first time since we started camping again a couple of years ago .. now to decide what to fill the space with!

SW16 · 02/03/2020 14:52
