I need a new tent - for weekends etc, 4 berth and living area

This tent is for me, dh, ds(6) & dd(3). It is not our main holiday tent, but one we could use for weekends - especially the family reunion weekend where we all camp in my parents garden.
DH wants one that he stand-up to put his trousers on (he is 5' 11") - less of an issue for me as I am only 5'.
I would like to be able to put it up by myself as in a year or two I could leave the children asleep while I go to the loo, they need to be old enough not to panic. I could then take them away without dh during the holidays when he is working.
The short-break holidays would only be booked last minute, when the forecast is good, so it doesn't matter if we are a bit cramped - but I do want to be able to sit in the living area with a chair & a book in the evenings.
Please help.

£100 ish, Well it would be nice to spend less, but I want a tent that will stay up if it is windy.
Also since we are looking at a small footprint but high. That is already going to be unstable.

Does it have curtains? As the bedrooms will be too small to get changed in.

Actually, I think the beds are the wrong way round as I like to be able to get out of the bedroom without standing on DH and he doesn't like sleeping right under the slope.

I preferred your first tent.

Dustystar - those 2 are sold out/out of stock - any more suggestions you've got would be good as if me and the boys survive our first camping trip I'd like to buy a bigger tent - same spec. as Debbiethemum - couple of rooms for around £100 that I can put up myself!

Thanks Dusty. I'm feeling quite miserable because I went to have a go at putting up the tent I've been given (Vango Discovery) this afternoon in our park. I haven't got instructions but dp and I kind of managed to erect it - but the inner bit is separate and I think you put it up second as it's got hooks that hook on the inside of the outer bit - it was a right old palaver! We had to do and re-do it 4 or 5 times because we couldn't match the doors up! Meanwhile ds's were getting fed up and I'll be doing it on my own when I go...

Aarrgghhhh! so we might borrow a friend's tent - they can at least show us how to put it up!

Dont worry too much dotty - it often takes a bit of practice. We had our old tent for 4 years and it took us a while to get the hang of tensioning and where to put the guy ropes. Just before we sold it I found a tip on ukcampsite that would have solved an ongoing probelm we had with closing the door. I don't know anything about the tent you have but with our old tent the advice was to angle the 2 guys on the door side of the tent forward rather than sideways. You could try this it might help.

I have just brought this
It was on sale so only cost me £127.99 (not from this site). I have also just put it up with the help of DS(6) & DD(3) - DH is out so couldn't help (or interfere).
I went to our local tent shop yesterday so I could see them up.

That looks interesting Debbiethemum.

What can you do with the pointy bits at each side? Could you have them half-closed (like a porch) or are they just extra floor space?

You can have them open or shut, so you can let in lots of air of a hot day. Or just windows to look out.

TBH the front porch is tiny, but I will just fit the camping fridge in one half and walk through the other half. On this side you can open each side independantly. Each side also has its own window.

The other porch is actually extra floor space as it is enclosed in the main part of the tent. This has one big door also with a window.

For those who want the technical details it is pitch inner first with sig and a HH of 3000
