What do you cook with when you camp?

We have one of these

Looking around campsite there were some lovely bbqs. We only ever take one or two disposable bbqs.

What do you use?

LargeG&T, you cooked for 8 on a Trangia? That's amazing! Do you mind me asking - Gas adapter or meths? One trangia or several? Did you use official Trangia pans or your own?

thanks!

this one???

WendyWeber · 13/08/2007 12:14

Oh, I got the wrong one

Never mind....

We have one of these - they are far cheaper now than they used to be (we paid more than that second-hand ).

largeginandtonic · 13/08/2007 16:40

Official trangia, meths and only one. We did things in batches, i say we loosely as DH is in charge of the cooking mostly, hehe.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 13/08/2007 16:44

Yes I suppose batches would have to be the answer.
Am still mega-impressed - most people I know struggle with Trangia for more than about 4.

largeginandtonic · 13/08/2007 16:47

Ah Katy, dh would weep if he couldnt use his trangia. We use the disposable BBQ's too, invaluable while camping. We have to use a party size one of those

OK - I'm about to embark on my first camping trip with ds's (ON MY OWN...). Which one of these grill thingys is the easiest to work - and where do you get the gas from???

It's all a mystery to me . I can feel a trip to the camping shops in Manchester coming on!

Lucycat · 26/08/2007 21:34

dottydot -head out to Go Outdoors in Cheadle, they have some great offers on at the moment!

dustystar · 27/08/2007 10:48

Its a shame you are so far away dotty as we are selling our campingaz cooker and buying one of these

I do like the campingaz cooker though

Dottydot · 30/08/2007 19:54

I've bought a twisty campinggaz stove thingy. No idea how it works - am hoping I just plonk it on top of the gas cylinder and twist it? Or something. It's a single burner so I shouldn't get into much trouble. As long as it can make me a coffee I'll be happy!
