Hi, I am looking for a campsite for the May Whit school holiday week next year (now that the hols have almost ended and nothing to look forward to...and going round in the usual circles after too much googling!).

We are 2 adults & 2 boys aged 13 & 11 and we have a large tent so need a large pitch (Vango Illusion TC 800XL - highly recommended!).
We are interested in East Devon or Dorset (live in Norwich so Cornwall that bit too far!) but open to suggestions. Also the Lake District but can't find a central site with a pool - ?
We normally camp in our lovely Norfolk, plus France in the summer hols.
Something like Kelling Heath would be perfect!
Would like sea/lake/river views, definitely be able to walk to a good pub & to a nice village/small town.
Boys need stuff to do - pool, campsite shop, table tennis, footie field, biking, plus fishing would be great. Not too fussed about campsite evening entertainment. Hoping wi-fi doesn't work then get my kids back! Nice showers of course! Like campsites with different areas, not lots of regimented lines.
And needs to be close to things to get out & about to do. Would be happy to do some cycling to get around.
Thanks everyone!

Have a look at river dart country park. Not near the beach but the kids would love this place-so much to do!

Definitely take bikes, you have to pay for WiFi Wink, they would be cycling and active all day long. Huge pitches, we have a vango taiga 600xl and there was loads of room for that so yours would be fine I'm sure

This does not help you at all OP but if I lived in Norfolk I wouldn't camp anywhere else!! We used to camp (tent) at the Pinewoods in Wells when I was way way younger. No tents allowed now Sad

We are really lucky in Norfolk - but must venture around the country & get the kids out of the NR postcode now & again! Never yet found a better site than Kelling even in France. Pinewoods would still be amazing if they accepted us tent lovers.
I will definitely look properly at River Dart...thanks...had a glance & bit worried DP will say not near sea and also won't like it being a public place! Grrrrr...

If it helps, it is £60 for a family of 4 to get in for the day, it meant there weren't many people coming in for the day!!

White Hill Country Park near Stoke Gabriel in Devon. V close to the coast, pool on site etc.
