sorry, me again and my ongoing tent drama.

have finger poised on checkout button for a khyam xl classic and will do it if am not talked down pdq. partly am just sick to back teeth of trying to find right tent and partly am in lust in a minor way . is only tent i keep coming back to, is only one i can get even slightly excited about spending money on.

it hits my 20kg or under target but is more than half the packed volume of our current tent (and whole reason we're getting a new one at all is so there's more room in car ). the fact you can put it up single handed really does appeal though and i think will make a major difference to stress of setting up. oh and can get it with groundsheet (not even sig!) for £250, so am being suckered in by scent of a bargain [rolleyes]

please someone stop me...

They're good tents, they erallya re. Not the hugest fro their berth size I will warn but definitely if tis what you want- go for it

Have you watched the pitching vid on the khyam website?

puppydavies · 07/08/2007 21:14

many times peachy

all we need is sleeping room (have checked - our mats will fit) plus stuff stashing and a bit of play room for the early mornings and head height so dp can pace baby to sleep if need be. want all this in smallest footprint so looks good in that respect.

but pack is sooooo much bigger than i'd like and that's only reason i started looking.

am desperately shallow (really like how it looks) and sucker for expensive=quality.

DON'T BUY THE TENT!!!! DON'T BUY THE TENT!!! Spend the money on on a spa break
You need head height to pace baby to sleep??? Don't forget to take earplugs for everyone else on the campsite

puppydavies · 07/08/2007 21:58

rofl flib. is actually not so bad - if you hold her upside down she's quiet as a mouse till she drops off from boredom. better than last one - not only did she yell constantly but we had to sing to her too. whole campsite subjected to my repertoire of dodgy folk songs about drowned lovers

Pull yourself together woman! Think ensuite, room service and chocolates on the pillows

We looked at the khyam - thought it looked great on paper but when we saw it in the flesh we were horrified at how big and heavy it was. We went for the 'family khamsin' www.fieldandtrek.com/product-Wild-Country-Tents-Family-Khamsin-Tent-32188.htminstead - sleeps 4 adults in two rooms with a central living area. Much smaller when packed up and lighter. Easy to put up (tho' not sure I'd do it on my own.) Have you actually tried the Khyam out in the shop? Strongly suggest you do before parting with your cash.

puppydavies · 07/08/2007 22:44

convincing arguments dragthing, good try

but big and heavy is all relative - you should see our aspen true have not tried khyam, but hear v good things and can always try at home and return under distance selling regs. is true should really see it, but that drags the whole damn thing out until can get to showroom which won't be till at least next w/e now. damnit it is sensible option tho.

am not sensible shopper am internet impulse buy queen. well if you can call days of mind numbingly tedious research impulse buying
