Eurocamp, or similar, suggestions please

Hi all. I’m hoping you can recommend/suggest campsites, with pool, play area, preferably kids club, that’s driveable from the UK (north west area). Happy to split the drive so I don’t mind sort of 12-14 hours, but needs to be not too far from port at the other end, if that makes any sense. And I’m looking at May 2020 if that makes a difference.
Or can anyone suggest similar companies to Euro amp with numerous sites I can browse.

We liked sunelia l'atlantique in Brittany but found that eurocamp weren't very good. The reps were never to be found!

If you’re going in May and you don’t want to go too far south, then I’d go for a site with a covered and/or heated pool. Domaines des Ormes has an indoor pool complex and it’s just under 2 hours from Cherbourg and even nearer to St Malo. If you want a beach, then l’Atlantique is a nice site with an indoor pool complex, a soft play area and a fantastic outdoor play area. No kids club though.

Are you thinking dover to calais?

We haven't done this, but we are in the NW and friends who drive over seem to like Southampton as a starting out port.

It depends on cost as we travel from Liverpool but ferries from Portsmouth etc are v expensive.

Same experience with Eurocamp at L'Atlantique.
Great site - lousy reps.

We love Des Menhirs in Carnac, Brittany - been three times in five years.
Four hours' drive from Caen.
Indoor/outdoor pool and slides.
Kids' clubs, although ours never used them. They always found other kids to hang out with.
Walking distance from Carnac beach, which is gorgeous.

Yes was thinking Dover Calais, as I’ve looked at the Portsmouth route and it seems more expensive, unless I’m missing something.

Also considered hull rotterdam, but that’s astronomical.....

It depends how much you are prepared to drive on the other side. There's some great sites very close to rotterdam and zebrugge but the ferry costs will be more than fuel and tolls a lot of the time.
Driving in France is so easy compared to the UK.

The worst part of our journey is getting to Dover. Once at the port it's easy!
I often use eurocamp / canvas etc to get a feel for sites then book direct. Eurocamping is a good website to give you information and so is vacansoleil.

Have you costed the ferry, fuel, tolls, overnight etc. against fly drive. In May prices are low with Ryanair and car hire is cheaper than in peak season, so you could go further south.
I love Catalonia, or what about the other side of the Pyrenees in France, maybe around Argeles. The weather will be much better.
