Anyone in the new forest? How windy is it?

Me and the kids are supposed to be going to the new forest this afternoon. Camping near Brockenhurst just for the weekend.

Is anyone there at the moment? How is it? Are they warning everyone to go home early?

Bump as we are due to go today too!

I'm not down there or heading there but I don't think it's looking great tonight and into tomorrow. If you're looking at up to 50mph winds I wouldn't.

Its not too bad right now, sunny/ cloudy and a bit windy, but its is supposed to be getting worse this afternoon and evening.. ( im just over the water from Lymington) we are expecting the ferries possibly not to run later..

Not in the New Forest, just around the corner

It’s OK down here at the moment - grey and a bit windy. It’s supposed to get worse from about 3pm with thunderstorms around 4ish

My Montana 6 can withstand really windy weather, but I'm really in two minds about it.

I actually think, its mainly going north of us , still pretty calm here and sunny right now . (we are about 10 miles directly south of Brockenhurst on west of IOW)

...but if you do come and it turns into a gale , please dont blame me! Grin

Awesome! We're going

We are on our way too! There’s a good write up from somebody on ukcampsite on how to pitch for the wind. Will follow that and hopefully still be upright in the morning but have got wine and crisps packed just in case..

My husband just waved us off with S cheery 'See you back home tonight! "

He's such a fucking comedian.

It got windy overnight! wondering how you did ?

2cats2many · 10/08/2019 11:24

It actually feels windier now. Some very strong gusts indeed coming through.

Night was OK. Just noisy because we're camped in the forest. It sounds like we're right next to the coast with the wind rushing through the trees.

It's supposed to get a bit calmer as the other evening goes on and then back to normal in the middle of the night.

All pegs checked and guys tightened. I know the tent is up to it but it's impossible to not feel anxious.
