Drive away awnings a must have?

Hi Guys,

Want your experience/opinions on drive away awnings, do you feel like they are a must have?

We are a family of 3 (1 yr old) and a dog with a concerted VW T6, think it'll be handy to have the extra space on a rainy day and for storage but not keen on the added faff of attaching and putting up a tent.. thoughts?

If you do recommend one which ones would you say is best?

Tia!

We have a Vango Idris Air Away, think that is the name, and it is fairly easy to put up with the strip that attaches to the VW awning. It is also fairly straightforward to disconnect to take the van out and then re-connect. It does give extra space for stuff that we don't need in the van and more room to change/ dry stuff.

We’ve got a Vango Galli airbeam that we use with a T5. It basically doubles our living area and means we can be comfortable in all weathers. We don’t bother putting it up for weekend trips but if we’re at the coast for a week or 2 it makes life so much easier with all the kit to store.
If we’re doing a weekender or festival, we put the Coleman event shelter up instead. No good for storing stuff as it’s open but you can stay dry or keep shade on the kids easily.

We have just given away our Vango Kela and replaced it with a Vango Hexaway.
