Tents for tall people

Hi all, we've just got back from soggy Ireland and if we've learned one thing it's that DH is too tall for our tent. He's 6'2 so we need something which will fit in a roof box and cope with at least 185cm. Needs also ideally two dark bedrooms and preferably a porch option so we can cook in relative dry.

Answer is probably a caravan which we wouldn't have room for!

Any ideas?

The Bear Lake tents are monsters - bedroom height of 185 and living space height goes up to 200. This is a link to the six person one - there's also a Bear Lake 4 with an inner of 195.

Here's a whole list of tall tents

thank you! Food for thought and research... the dilemma seems to be trying to find one that's tall but not enormous since there's only three of us in a Golf... that Eurohike one looks good. I think we'd need a bigger car for the Bear Lake one! Grin

We have an outwell Montana 6p and it's great. Very tall, dark and spacious bedrooms and great quality. Packaging might be a bit big and heavy for a roof box though. We squeeze ours upright into the boot of our Astra, leaving half the boot and roof box for everything else.

Postscript. We bought a HiGear Zenobia 6 Eclipse with porch and tested it in Wales last week. It was pretty easy to put up (and so was the porch despite a few reviews saying that part was a nightmare) and it coped just fine with DH's height, 20mph wind with 30-40mph gusts and some interestingly angled torrential rain.
Worst part was the noise from the porch's fabric sliding over the main tent in the night.

Now trying to work out where to keep it!

I used to have a kampa holkham. Brilliant tent : my Dh is 6'2" so he was happy. I'm a foot shorter so needed his help to do the door.
It's dark blue polycotton with darkened bedroom pods and has a canopy at front.
Until i converted to pyramid tents - it was a perfect tent.
They only made them for one year ( too expensive to make at mass profit).

I'd highly recommend : even 2nd hand 😊.
Had a look - there is one on ebay at the moment.

We also need to use a tall tent for hubby, the timber ridge log cabin is like 7.2ft which is ample. We found out about all the tall tents on this article thetenthub.com/camping-tents/tall-tent/ maybe it will help you too.
Sammy :)
