Our tent outwell indiana 8 was brilliant in the wind and the rain, there were no leaks at all and it hardly moved in the wind, it too has a HH of 5000. Pity they cant invent something to keep you dry when you are taking it down as we got soaked.

quadrophenia · 27/07/2007 23:12

mine did, bless it, its a 1971 original awning

hex · 28/07/2007 08:00

seem to going around in circles with buying a big family tent...have read lots of poor reviews about outwell leaking....are your tents new then?

OP posts:
Lucycat · 28/07/2007 12:21

There are a few of this year's Vermonts that leak but Outwell sell proportionately loads more tents than anyone else so there are going to be more stories about leaks than from other brands iyswim.

Our Outwell was fabulous at Whit, even stood up to the hailstones and gale force winds that we had.

With a tent you do generally get what you pay for.

hence our new baby

marymoocow · 28/07/2007 19:39

Ours did too. So a big thumbs up for Outwell here . Ours is brand new as well. Had a great time.

FeelingOld · 28/07/2007 20:11

We bought our outwell towards the end of last year but used it for the first time at may bank hol this year.

Marymoocow - snap! we have the indiana 8 too and we love ours, they are fab aren't they.

marymoocow · 28/07/2007 20:19

Brilliant. Loads of space. We had friends visit us one day and we all fitted in comfortably because it was raining (4 adults and 5 dc in total).

Just out of interest can you answer this please?

marymoocow · 28/07/2007 20:21

They were only there in the day time btw .

We're out for the weekend on Friday, and then off to Cornwall for 2 weeks the following weekend. Think we may have become addicted

Lucycat · 28/07/2007 20:34

marynmoocow - we'll keep the good weather for you in Cornwall - we're off tomorrow at 4am for a fortnight. I should really be going to bed but we want to watch the last Jekyll first

car is all packed, lunch made, kids asleep - lets' go camping

marymoocow · 28/07/2007 21:22

Have a brilliant time Lucycat. Can't believe that in 4 weeks time it will all be over for this year . Still dh is still talking about a second tent for weekends now. So that should give him something to look for on a cold winters evening

FeelingOld · 28/07/2007 21:24

Marymoocow - have answered your other thread. Hope the weather stays fine for you and lucy. We are not going till 13th August so hopefully weather has to be a bit better by then.

twinsetandpearls · 28/07/2007 21:26

our outwell has coped in awful rain and wind.

marymoocow · 28/07/2007 21:27

Thanks have seen your reply.

brandnewhelsy · 29/07/2007 15:28

Our Khyam Ontario 8 was great in Cornwall last week in wind and rain that was torrential at times. Didn't want to come home, wanna go again

FillydoraTonks · 29/07/2007 17:24

our vango venture 500 did brilliantly. its always very nice to be able to listen to the rain knowing it won't come in.

The field we were camped in was actually flooeded. But we were fine.

PicknMix · 29/07/2007 17:53

We have a Sunnycamp400 which has an internal ground sheet - invaluable for when the rain lashed down in the Peak District a few weeks ago!

Peachy · 29/07/2007 18:03

We ahd tornadoes! (were right on coast though).

Rain yes, not a problem, mone and Mums were Ok (Gelert and Khyam)

windsa different thing- NO tent on our site survived without a re-pitch other than the rigid steel ones. One Outwell was completely destroyed (a minnesota iirc). Ours survived but took a bit of damage . (seemed minor though as a poor boy was lost at sea nearby the same night - 17 years old).

We are buying the only tent on the whole site that looked pristeen and perfect on the Monday for next year, a Colaman Weathermaster Galileo. Bring on the tent!

FillydoraTonks · 29/07/2007 18:38

where were you peachy?

Peachy · 29/07/2007 18:41

Pentewan Sands, near Mevagissey (just done a thread about them actually).

FillydoraTonks · 29/07/2007 18:43

feck me

that beats my "sea of cowpats" story
