Camping in Switzerland - any top tips?

We’re planning a week at Camping des Glaciers near La Fouly in the canton of Valais, which is far more ambitious than any camping we’ve attempted so far.

Anyone have any top tips, either for the practicalities of (budget) camping in Switzerland with three DSs (6, 9 & 12) or cool, inexpensive stuff to do in the region? Looks like we’ll be spoilt for choice, but personal recommendations are always good to hear...

This is the spot.

I have no tips but just wanted to say that sounds like a great holiday and I hope someone more knowledgeable can help!

Thanks. It does look good, so long as the weather is on our side...

Suggestions for stuff to do in rainy Switzerland would be extra appreciated!

I camped in Switzerland once and it was properly lovely; the only thing I would say (because it was a very long time ago and I cant remember much else) is that the sun can be on the ground for a short time if the mountains are close by (ie you're staying at the bottom of a flat v) so make the most of the sun!

Yep, good point, hadn’t considered that.

The close proximity of a mahoosive glacier might also have a something of a cooling effect (wonder if I can hack bits off to re-chill the iceytek?!?). Plenty of woollens needed then - no campfires allowed dammit!
