Wonderfully the weather is heating up & especially in France.

Never had an electric hook up before & wondering if I manage to squeeze a normal Uk plug in fan into our car (normal oscillating desk fan that I have in the kids bedroom) . Will it work in a French Campsite if I just stick a normal EU plug adapter onto the UK plug & plug it into the French sockets in our safari tent with electricity.

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but have small kids and the temperature may be well over 40!!! Also fan isn’t small & car space is obviously at a premium.

It should do.
One thing to remember though is that electric hook ups often have limited amps. 8-16 in the uk, not sure about France

You can get low wattage camping fans, we really needed them last week in France before the heatwave hit! But yes, an adaptor should work. Lots of people on the Motorhome forums recommend Endless Breeze fans, you may be able to get something suitable and small before you go?

We had 6 amps max on some sites so have to be careful to switch off the fan if switching on the kettle etc! Sites with ready tents you will hope to have at least 10amps though.

Hang a wet tea towel in front of fan, or put a bowl of ice cubes in water in front of fan to help cool the air.

Other heat deduction measures: Take a tarp to rig from trees over your tent to create extra shade, or see if there is a reflective roof protector available fir your tent.
