Dogfriendly campsite in wooded areas in the Cotswolds, Somerset, Devon, Dorset

In september ,we are going camping in the UK, with 2adults and a wellbehaved dog in our small caravan.
We like wooded campsites, with lots of privacy.
EHU would be very useful, and basic but clean showerfacilities.
We are planning to travel from Harwich to Oxford, then further south to scenic areas of Somerset, Dorset, Devon.
What beautiful and peaceful campsites would you recommend?
Thank you:-))

Forest Glade in Devon immediately springs to mind www.forest-glade.co.uk and also Far Peak in the Cotswolds www.farpeakcamping.co.uk

Burrowhayes on Exmoor is great. Dog friendly, lots of beautiful walks, riding stables on site. Just lovely!

Thank you! I’ve looked them up and they seem stunning!! Do you think we have to make a reservation for september?

Forest glade is lovely, we have stayed there in their lodges (years ago) and we might camp there this year in our Campervan and tent. The woodlands are great for walking and the fishing lakes are really nice, we hand fed the fish with bread 🤣.

We are staying at a sight in Barnstable in a few weeks but can’t remember what it’s called. There’s also a good site near Wareham that’s surrounded by trees.

We liked Wookey farm in Somerset but no showers (ok for one night).

How about River Dart Country Park in Devon we're going for 2nd time in August

Lovemusic33 · 18/07/2019 06:58

swiz I think river dart is booked up. I'm going in October with friends, amazing site with loads to do bit very big. Loads of toilets and showers too. I wanted to take the kids in August but sea to be booked up when I try and book, it's very popular and reasonably priced.

swizzlestix · 18/07/2019 10:14

Lovemusic I literally booked last night, try again, it's costing us £177 for 3 nights so much less than I thought! Def worth another look

swizzlestix · 18/07/2019 10:15

Sorry just realised you've already booked somewhere yourself but may be worth checking OP

Lovemusic33 · 18/07/2019 14:23

swizz I’m still looking for places to book, we have booked one site for early August but might look at river dart for late August, I think I tried to book through pitch up which is maybe where I’m going wrong? Or could be because I’m trying to book for a Campervan and awning with electric hook up. It is a great site, I’m pleased I get to go (without kids) in October for Oktoberfest. I might book it for a week next summer with the kids.
