Anyone got a Vango Aspen 500 DLX?

Thinking of buying one. Are they hard to put up? How long might it take?

Any problems with them at all?

Any issues about size pitch? It's 695cm length by 370cm width

have the 500 not the dlx. pretty straightforward to put up, but definitely takes 2 people and it's a bit of a heft getting all the poles up to standing (but really no big deal). is inner first so not ideal for putting up in rain. we reckon it takes half an hour or so without any distractions (e.g. herding small children). praps not ideal weekend tent but great for longer stays.

not had pitch probs - is not huge by modern tent standards - but dunno if dlx is bigger? main downside i would say is pack size - it takes up a lot of room in the car and is heavy too.

but is a flipping fantastic tent and worth the minor niggles. sooo much room - standing room throughout makes a huge difference - a pleasure to stay in, lovely and light. great in wet - plenty of space - and in heat during day - easy to get a throughdraft. is serious luxury campingwise i reckon and gets much curiosity/admiration from other campers too.

I've got a Vango Aspen 500dlx, we've only been away in it once, and it took us over an hour to put up, but that was the first time and we were supervising dd (2) and puppy! Would agree that it needs two of you, but it is straightforward to do. And it is a great tent, very good in rain etc, plenty of room, the lrger porch was well worth it, we had our puppys crate and all the cooking stuff in there. Haven't come across pitching problems, thats why we chose the Aspne rather than some of the pod style tents as its more compact than them, I think probs can arise if they're over 5m wide usually. We got ours from Somerset Camping, we visited them, but I know they were doing them online for a very good price.

Yes! We love ours, its huge and have toured Scotland living in it for 10 days last year.
Takes us about 50 minutes to get out of bag and put up. Never had a problem with pitching so far. The bags are very big, and heavy, we found it hard to fit the other things into the car. We now have a roofbox
Its lovely, no regrets at all.

and so have these tents ever leaked? Anyone camped recently in the torrential rain?

We camped in very heavy rain in Cornwall in late June and no it didn't leak, was also very windy as we were on the lizard! It did feel slightly damp around a couple of the fabric reinforced seams where pegs go in so we're going to spray it here next time we put it up, no leak though, just a bit damp. Found the DLX porch very handy for abandoning wet wellies and raincoats too, which kept the main room lovely and clean and dry, its a great tent!
