When does the camping season start for you?

I took my 2 kids camping for the first time last year and they enjoyed it. I'd like to do it again this year and am hoping to go a few times with the kids and DH and also just with the kids and a friend and her kids.
I think my limit would be 3 nights but more likely 2 as I like my home comforts (my own toilet!)
I was wondering what time of year you have your first camping trips and when the season ends for you?

May half term, start of June. It gets dark too early before that. Ends first week or so of September for the same reason, plus too much hassle once the DCs are back at school.

moved on from a tent now to a campervan. In capervan we camp all year round, when in tent we were happy to camp from Beginning of March to end October... though now and then if it was mild we have been known to stretch that to Mid November - bloody love camping

Usually Easter, although I'm itching to go now and I keep meaning to get some weekend winter camps done. We normally don't go after summer, as September for usis a bit manic family wise, so even if the weather is good, we don't have time.

Hopefully will have an entire month away this summer, record so far has been 23 days in a row.

We've done the first week in April but it was unseasonably warm and we bought a tent heater before going.

Logoplanter · 21/03/2019 20:09

Thanks, that's helpful. I'm thinking May onwards until September.

Usually the 2nd May bank holiday but this year we're going to take a chance with the weather and go at the beginning of May.

Year round for us. We have tent trailer camper, trailer tent (or whatever you want to call it) with insulation and a gas heater.

We have been warm and snug at new Year.

NEVER

Luaa · 22/03/2019 18:40

Last year was our first year camping, so we don't have a normal season yet. However, this year we have booked the last weekend in April. I am worried it will be too cold, but we aren't far from home if it's terrible

Decormad38 · 22/03/2019 18:42

Never!

averythinline · 23/03/2019 23:09

usually May halfterm but have done early May bank holiday a few times and Easter once!

am hoping mild weather stays and we will do easter again this year , didnt camp as much last year so feeling the need :)

hillbilly · 24/03/2019 21:50

We glamp in feb and Oct half term. Tent camping begins in Easter hols and finishes aug bank holiday as its tricky to get away again after term starts.

chillpizza · 26/03/2019 19:34

Chocolateisfab · 26/03/2019 19:38

Flowersonthewall · 26/03/2019 20:17

We are going Easter weekend I am very worried it's going to be absolutely freezing 😂

Notmyideamovingon · 31/03/2019 12:10

My kids camp all year round with scouts, I start with scout family camp end of April and have done early October with cubs / friends birthday but you need a decent sleeping bag. Dc and their dad worst weather ever was last Easter as wet. Frost camp not been that frosty for them so far
