Ideally one that I could ring up a week before I want to go (august) as we're going to be undecided until the week before about whether we're going or not.

Small campsites preferred, not noisy ones with a bar, etc.

Any ideas?
Thanks

I was going to suggest Dornafield, but you may have to book in advance!

Fairly large site - but posh!

I don't rwally know that part of Devon. Have you asked on ukcampsite?

Oooh I used to go to one near Newton Abbott. Was in a caravan but they had a camping part too. There's pretty much nothing other than the toilet/shower blocks, sinks, water taps & the view though.

Will need to find out what it's called though as I don't remember ever knowing that.

Pls Blondi, that would be good.

We have been checking out smallish campsites in that area, here's some I found in a web search and considered. We haven't actually been to any of them yet as we keep postponing due to incessant rain:

Barley Meadow, near Fingle bridge on the NE side of Dartmoor. Playground, fresh croissant and cafetiere coffee service.

Budleigh Farm near Moretonhampstead is, apparently, "Dartmoor's most enchanting setting for self-catering accommodation and camping". It has an outdoor swimming pool

The Plume of Feathers in Princetown is a pub with campsite attached. Has playground.

Betty Cottles Inn has a campsite attached to a pub/ On the webpage which is supposed to be a campsite the only information is a photo of some bottles of beer! But I gather it has a pets corner and play area, it's near Okehampton.

Bundu campsite, 4 miles west of Okehampton, is quite low key. Facilities include a cycleway, pub and "open moor".

River Dart is large, with many facilities. www.riverdart.co.uk/where-to-stay/camping--touring.html
