Campsites near Bordeaux/Biarritz

Have found really cheap flights to both Biarritz and Bordeaux for the end of July but have my head wrecked looking at campsite reviews! Would like one near a beach and all the usuals..nice pool, nicely spaced out, not shabby, water slides for younger kids.

Have been looking up la Vieux Port, soustons village, Les Grands Pins etc but all have mixed reviews. Anyone have recommendations? Also we usually go much earlier..Will it be really busy at end July??

We went to Les Grands Pins last August. Really enjoyed it, easy to walk in to town for dinner, etc. Lots of cycle routes and fab inland lakes for when the surfing gets too much.

I haven’t been to any of the ones that you’re looking at. Have you seen Cote d’Argent? The pool complex is excellent for young children. I really liked that the mobile homes are built more like lodges and nestled within the trees - it felt like we had a lot more privacy than some other campsites and it seemed quieter, even though we were there at peak season. We could walk into Hourtin Plage in the evening to visit some of the restaurants.

We have stayed twice at Le Vieux Port. Kids loved it. The beach is walkable directly from the site, but it’s a climb coming back (or you can get the little train). Only negative is you have to drive to get anywhere off site, but we had a great trip into the mountains and a few more local trips to the lake etc.

Near Bordeaux is the Dune du Pyla, a good site is La Reserve on the lake (site owned by Siblu so the kids clubs will be large and all in English).
