Oh Dorito we stayed at the Acapulco last year and it was FANTASTIC!!!! We will go back there again! The pool and slides are excellent although in peak season I can't imagine there will be enough loungers for everyone!!! The iste was really safe for children with a big play area.
There is evening entertainment but as we went in June (at the time of the world cup!!) it was limited - heard it was more full on in high season. But we never bothered with it really as our kids were only 3 and 4. We got friendy with other fmailies around us and after dinner we let the kids rampage and then bed then all the adults sometimes sat out and had drinks and a laugh. Some nights the men went to the bar to see the footie and we ladies drank wine! Others we went for a meal in the campsite restauarant which did excellent steaks n pizzas! Also does takeaway. The entertainment is what you make it. We tended to BBQ at the mobile and stay round it in the evening but one couple we were friendly with had young teeenagers who went to the disco every night. We weren't bothered by noise.
The croissants and baguettes are fresh every morning and were delicious.
There are some bars, shops and restaurants just outside the site and a Champion supermarket, all within walking distance - and a post office that never seemed to open!! There is also a lovely wee beach 5 mins walk away and we used to take kites down in the evening. It's very well positioned for trips n things. The main beach at St Jean is fabulous - well worth a visit and there are lovely wooded areas with cycle paths etc. Nearby is a huge water park but our kids were happy enough with the slides at the pool.
The trips we did were:
The grand parc which you HAVE to do (www.puydefou.fr). It was amazing, out of this world. Take a picnic and it will be an all day thing. There is a nice restaurant in the nearby village of les Herbiers which is a converted old station houseand the food was fab. A lot of the Grand Parc staff came in while we were eating including the Roman lion tamer so that caused lots of excitement!
Les Dunes at brem sur mer/Bretignolles - a fab park with huge inflatables and non mechanised rides - the bobsleighs/luges were fab - we spent all day there (www.parcdesdunes.com)
St Gilles croix de veaux (sp?) - a lovely wee town with a quaint old fashioned merry go round on the bridge which the kids loved. nice shops and the best hypermarkets near the site - better than the St Jean ones. We liked Leclerc best.
The safari park outside Nantes is excellent - planete Sauvage (www.planetesauvage.com)
If you have a wettish day you can drive to the Isle of Noirmoutier and go to the indoor water park and the Sealand /life (?) aquarium.
Les sables d'olonne - lovely shops and beach.
Take picnics!
But definately go to the Acapuluco, it was a great site and we loved our holiday!!
Any specific questions just ask.
By the way the kids club was great last year - I had to go too as dd was only 3 and they let her join in if I stayed!! (Not what I had in mind as I work in a school !!!) This year she's 4 so hurrah!!!
