please help before I go mad - having searched for 12 months we finally bought a sunncamp oasis 600 - which was ripped on opening (separate thread on this)
having organised a refund (I hope - getting confirmation tomorrow) I now need to find another tent
the oasis was fab in that it had tonnes of space inside and a great porch, but it was a bit difficult to put up and I HATED the neon zip things and dark windows in it - couldnt imagine spending lots of time in it in the rain for example
so now am on my hunt again - next camping trip planned for 21 July so gotta be quicker this time!
Ive seen peachys recommendation of the ontario and it does look great, except that we would really like a proper porch
so, tent anoraks, your challenge is to find a similar tent, light-medium colour with clear windows, no neon bits on the inside, very easy to erect (so probably tunnel I guess), SIG, sleep 6+, decent living space in case of rain WITH A PORCH (max budget 225 pounds)
does such a tent exist?
and as a tangential challenge, if you are up for it, recommend somewhere near to SE London where I could see it (dont ask for much do I )
thanks people!
(sorry for lack of apostrophes - they were looking very strange when I previewed)

sorry Jeangenie just seen your questions about the orion.
It looked quite easy to put up, the only problem they had at first was getting the doors/windows to line up on the inner and fly sheet as they are pitched seperately. They have now put it up three times and its not an issue.

There was no neon and I think the windows were clear but will check and get back to you.
The bedrooms were large, but theirs was the orion 7(4+3) but I doubt there would be much difference between the two. They had the bedroom partition unzipped to make one room and it was huge, double airbed in one corner and loads of room to walk around.

They were going to buy the orion 6 at first but when they saw the 7 was the same price they went for that instead! I think you can stand up straight in the bedrooms but will also check with them.

THANKS cameleon - you're a star. Any further info appreciated but that's tonnes to go on. How did you get on at the tent shop today?

Thanks for advice re letter Peachy - I have written it now (two sides of A4!) and will send with the tent when collected tomorrow. I said if I didn't get refund within 7 days would start small claim court proceedings. To be fair, apart from the tear which wouldn't really have driven me from this company, their customer service post sales has been truly awful. It took about 9 days to respond to my initial (3) emails about the fault, then no apology just straight into the "NO REFUND" line . After the initial phonecall from them I have had to call them each time, they've forgotten the history and had to be reminded each time (fair enough if they are busy I guess) then after the last time when the woman very ungraciously announced she'd fax the courier to collect the tent but never told me a collection date the collection company arrived for it today when I wasn't home. No doubt that'll be held against me too! I have now arranged with them to collect tomorrow and just hope that is the end of my dealings with them

sorry to moan but while any company can accidently sell you faulty goods it takes a special company to behave so arrogantly towards its customers I think!

My friend has got back to me she said the windows are clear, there is no neon on the inside but there are a few bits on the outside (I don't remember seeing any and can't see any on the pictures online so they must be minimal).
She could stand up in the bedrooms but her partner had to bend down a little (she is about 5.5ft).
No bad points she could think of.

The shop were great, they have told me to try the sealant next time I use the tent but if it is still leaking they will replace it so i'm happy. Good luck with your refund, I would highly recommend the shop I bought from - allweathers. Their main shop is just up the road from me, so very handy.
It is much easier to deal with a shop in person though rather than online. I would of struggled to explain the faults I had using emails.

thanks Cam - glad the shop are sorting you out - that sounds fair enough

the orion sounds great - thanks for getting all that info. Will wait to make sure my refund comes through and then decide between the 6 and the 7 I think. Thanks again
