is it worth joining if we plan to do a lot of touring with a tent?

According to my parents Yes! They say that they get discounts on pitches and they got some freebies thrown in last summer! They've belonged to the club for about 30+ years and swear by it! Almost considered joining last year, but as we were only going camping the once didn't seem worth it!

yes - you get discounts off club sites ... and the club sites tend to be lovely!

I found a couple of years ago that we recouped the cost of our membership on 1 5 night stay on a lovely site!

Lucycat · 18/06/2007 15:57

and you don't have to pay the additional night's fee of £3 a night on the Forestry Commission sites either!

We've joined this year.

Lucycat · 18/06/2007 16:06

which is best recomended we have a caravan but sister now again comes tenting so need sites for both etc
are htey bothe recognised etc

Peachy · 18/06/2007 20:40

we're members and yes we think its worth it (oi! UCM no swingers that I know of)

the sites are lovely and there are plenty, apaprenlty you haev to book early for IoW but we find that we make our mebership back each year and more, and that poeple there are always helpful. Most meetups are for people 'with own sanitation'- ie caravans- but not all, and people are really friendly whatever unit amp in. You get a list of sites which you get a discount / priority on- these are the ones on the website. there's also a HUGE book of small sites that are exclusive to the club, havne't used these but they're supposedly fab

Peachy · 18/06/2007 20:40

(and for tents, go for caravan and camping)

debbie26pet · 18/06/2007 20:55

do u use it to get the ins do u find it any cheaper?

Peachy · 18/06/2007 21:02

well we have a tent so dont need caravan insurance and our tent is covered by the household, so dont need it- but I hear it is cheaper. And they seem to help with dispute resolution sometimes as well. They also have DA's (district associations) you can join for a more local aspect
