Hello, I am used to walking/camping holidays as a single person, but am about to take ds (3) camping for the weekend (next) for the first time. Just realising that my limited camping equipment/knowledge just will not do so need a little advise. Now have my tent, sleeping bags duvets etc. 1 ring burner, water carrier but what the hell do I cook? We are going for two nights and will barbeque for the second, but any ideas what to cook on a single burner for a 3 year old with allergies (dairy, egg, nuts)! Basically picnic on the beach at lunchtime on first day, and lunch out on second day, but it is the dinners I am confused about (used to just drink wine before ds ). Also anything else I should take that I wouldn't have thought of? Also as a single mum and it just being me and ds should I be nervous from the safety angle?????

We are going to a site I used to camp at with my dad from when I was ds' age which should be fun..

Any help, tips etc will be most welcome.

Many thanks

BB

Safety wise you'll be fine. Make friends with the people next door - they can be your Neighbourhood Watch!

What would you normally cook at home? Can you adapt it to a one ring burner? Does the egg allergy extend to pasta - sorry I'm not up on allergies you could chuck some ham, tomato based sauce and sweetcorn in.

or there is couscous - the ultimate camping food - pour on boiling water then leave for 10 mins - does you ds eat couscous? Just don't eat inside the tent, very messy!

Pasta with a stir in sauce, very easy.

Noodles, super noodles are very tasty when camping.
