What has happened to Canvas Holidays?

We've used Canvas Holidays for our summer holidays for the last 8 years and they've always been great but something seems to have gone a bit wrong this year!
The holiday we booked for 2019 is now unavailable. They can't suggest alternatives. The alternative we found on the website is available but the site isn't run by Canvas it's Tui Happy (?) who have smaller accommodation and ask for a £200 cleaning deposit.
So, has anyone else had problems with booking Canvas for 2019?
Also, has anyone used Tui Happy for this sort of holiday and if so, what do you think?

The company was sold to a French company in 2015. I wonder if they are sold on again? Or if French companies are operating through a UK company like Tui to reduce Brexit risk in some way?

French companies must be assessing the risk of holidays post March.
