Family of 6. Looking for a trailer tent for general holidays and keeping the bell tent for short stays.

Any advice/recommendations please?

We have a Cabanon Chamonix. For short trips we just put up the basic cabin which goes up in 10mins ..... sleeps 8 in 2 king size proper beds and we have 2 double under tents each side. We love it

mentalmickey the Chamonix is one we are looking at. Where did you purchase from the place near Birmingham or second hand? Did you go for the kitchen as well? Is there lots of storage?

We have a second hand trigano. The plusses are that it's big, so great for bad weather, beds are so much more comfortable, we can store nearly all of our camping equipment in it ( things like tables, stove etc). We only add clothes/bedding. It takes a similar time to actually set up but there's less faffing, for example, no getting stuff from cupboard to car to tent and reverse. Downsides are storage, cost of getting a tow bar, lower travel speeds, insurance and getting it serviced when needed. If you also camp separately with your bell, you might need to think about stuff you need for both. However, we have used ours for over 150 nights in the last 4 years and it's almost like a family member! We're very comfortable in it and have camped well at Easter time.

We've just upgraded from an elderly Trigano Randger to a Galleon. We love the beds in trailer tents, and it is so cosy and great in bad weather.
I do miss the amount of storage we had in the Randger which could be left pretty much ready to go, but the Galleon we got doesn't have a kitchen unit.

Resale of second hand trailer tents is pretty good - the Randger was bought and sold on ebay and cost us £25 over 5 years of use! So if you already have a tow bar it isn't a big commitment
