Very vague I know! We’ve left it incredibly late but would like to find somewhere for end of August. No availability on the overnight ferries but could get to Caen or Dieppes. Have only been to Garangeoire previously, and would be looking for similar sort of place. We would need a static caravan or chalet. 3 young kids under 10.

Thank you for any recommendations! Everything I’ve looked at so far is full (funny, that....) and I don’t know France at all.

Thank you Smile

I'm going to la falaise at La Turballe which is about 4h from Caen. Right next to a sandy beach (no lifeguards from what I remember though) and a short walk to a proper active fishing harbour (great entertainment!) and a few restaurants.

Thank you, will have a look!

Try searching through Castels. They seem to have availability at lots of the popualr sites.

We have just got home from la bretonniere, about 5 mins from la garangoire. (It's a Flowers camping) smaller, and quieter but we really liked it. So the pool is smaller, it only has a small snack bar etc. Although I wouldn't know if they had any spaces in their chalets or Safari tents.

Try Lez Eaux, I want to go there next year

loubielou31 · 13/08/2018 15:21

The bigger sites in the area were pin parasol, friends stayed there last year and la guiyonnaire. Both very near lac do Jaunay.

Thank you! Flowers

Try LeClarys plage. Lovely site, great pool beach walkable. Lots to do in the surrounding areas.
Busy site but we have been 4 times now, just arrived home a week ago.
There are lots is sites along that stretch of coast line google Saint-Jean de Monts. You can hire statics through the campsite direct.

Do you want a beach holiday? Places in the loire are only 3 hours away from caen.

millimat · 14/08/2018 15:05

Here seems to have spaces www.fierbois.com/

GnarlyOldGoatDude · 14/08/2018 19:44

Thank you- Beach not essential but would be nice to wear the kids out. I’d love to see the Loire but our kids are regrettably uncultured and I can see them finding chateaux boring Angry

Domaine des ormes?
It's on my list for next year.

FrankiesKnuckle · 14/08/2018 19:59

La vallee In Normandy is nice, about 1:45mins from dieppe.

Just can't guarantee the weather (speaking from bitter experience!)

millimat · 14/08/2018 20:27

That fierbois one has a lake as well and loads of on site activities.

We’ve just got back from chateau de Lez eaux. About an hour from Caen. Very nice site.

GnarlyOldGoatDude · 15/08/2018 09:27

Some great suggestions, thank you!

Le Chant d’Oiseau is lovely and would be perfect for your children. www.loire-gites.com

The owners are lovely and as the site is small the children have freedom to run around without you needing to follow them.

There are 10 pitches and a few gites with a pool, play area and a bar for you! Lots to do in the area including the best zoo I have ever been to...

We’ve just got back from le point st Giles, in Benodet which was excellent. I also really fancy the yelloh village campsite nearby, the beach was stunning
