We did - just! Wow that was an experience!
Even though we have done loads of camping trips we definitely consider ourselves hardened campers after that one. We got back from four nights in the Isle of Wight yesterday. what a wash-out that was.
Had to put tent up in rain on Sunday - not a great start.
Thought tent was going to blow away in the night. It was swaying every where. Fortunately we had enough pegs down to keep it on the ground. Although bought some extra pegs from camp shop day after to be prepared for anymore bad weather.
Our cooking stove and fridge which were in the living area got blown over. DH and I barely slept a wink through getting up and picking things up and pushing tent pegs back into ground. Yaaaaawn!! DDs, however, slept through it all
When we woke up on the Monday morning loads of tents around us were collapsing. One poor woman in camping shop crying her eyes out because everything in her tent had got drenched. The thought did cross our minds slightly about coming home but we stuck it out and glad we did. Did have one nice day on the Tuesday but most of the trip was rain.
Ah well. Just have to dry the tent out now ready for our next trip in a couple of months. It hasn't put me off.
