Can you help me find a Campsite near water?

A few of us meeting up from various locations so we’re looking at Cheshire, south Manchester, Peak District areas. Basic requirements are loos, showers and campfires allowed but I’m making it more difficult (sorry) because I’d like to be near water. A river, lake or brook where the children can play (cue romantic image of rope swinging) would make me so happy. I know it’s a bit specific but I also know that mumsnetters are brilliant at this type of thing. Thanks.

It's not quite the location you've asked for but there's a beautiful one at Low Wray on the way the shore of Windermere in the Lakes, run by the National trust

Thanks. Might need to stretch as far as the Lakes but hoping to not need to travel so far.

Maybe Dol-Llys Farm would be nearer than the Lake District. It's something straight out of Swallows and Amazons.

Riverside riversidecamping.co.uk might also be worth a look but it's probably too far.

Nantcol Waterfalls is on the banks of a river, very near a beach and has rope swings.

If you go on ukcampsite.co.uk you can narrow your search by area and by options like beach access, with fishing and with boat launching to find those near water.

Dol Llys Farm, Llanidloes, Powys, Wales, amazing site, spotless showers and a river running right through the site.

We went a few weeks ago, weather was amazing and the kids lived in the river!

We camped on the edge of the river and it was lovely. Owners are so friendly and they have farm animals they let the kids feed.

Thank you for your suggestions. The sites you’ve linked look fabulous but we’re planning just 2 nights so don’t want to travel as far as the Lake District or Wales on a Friday after work. Can’t seem to find what I’m looking for on ukcampsite.co.uk either. Maybe I need to be less fussy Hmm
