I want to go on holiday with lots of other woman and their kids - help

Hi all, I'm sitting down to plan summer holidays and feel the usual ache in my heart at the idea of going away with my daughter by ourselves. My husband is working all through the summer until the final two weeks of hols. I work from home so generally stop work over the summer to take care of our daughter (aged 7.) My other friends always have their own plans over the summer and then work. Generally my only option is to go away by myself with my daughter. I have gone away with her by myself before, but find the sight of large groups of families and friends together makes me feel really lonely and I know that we have more fun when we're in a bunch of other like-minded folk. I've realised that I want is to find a tribe of women in a similar situation who want to join forces and camp together so their kids can run free and they can make new friends. I'm a feminist, author, slightly chaotic, very friendly, big fan of rum and coke and holidays by the sea, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Someone upthread said about the camping and caravanning club but they have meet ups all over throughout the year, I suspect something would suit.

I'm taking DD camping by myself this year. I worried about it at first but then realised I'm going to be fine - I have wine and a kindle.

I'd be interested in camping with other too, I have dds 8 and 3. Dd1 is really keen to make new friends camping and have an adventure.

I am in this situation too as a single mum of 3 boys, 13, 9 and 4. . I have just booked a fairly local campsite for 3 nights and my older 2 have invited a friend each (Well actually 3 extra boys in total.)

Yegads! What have I done Shock

To be fair part of the attraction in camping for me is the lovely, relaxed, slightly-alcohol-induced daze that the time seems to drift away in- obviously I need to be on top of my game if camping solo with 6 children- but they are all good kids and we will plan some special days out to local things that we've never got round to doing and it will be great. However I would much rather do this is an extended group so that it is more fun for me too!

I'd be up for a weekend away somewhere with just my boys on a MN meet-up.

Are any of the NT working holidays family friendly? I've heard good things about them.

semiaquatic you're brave but it sounds like such fun. I really want to camp for a few nights with my 3dc and their cousin. We have a huge tent and am worried about pitching it without dh. How will you manage? Will you just get the boys to help you?

The women's holiday centre offer camping. Might suit you. Woman (and children) only.

journey ds1 and I can do it easily enough, it's a 5 man tunnel type tent so once the poles are through its just a case of walking it forward. I hope- we last did it ourselves 3 years ago so fingers crossed one of us remembers the method!

I'm just about to go on a solo trip in my VW t5 for the first time too, had it 5 yrs but never overnighted in it before. I'm really excited :)

I'd definitely be interested in a mumsnet camping weekend, me and kids, since separating...

I am taking the camping this summer, and am hoping to rely on bribing friendly campers with alcohol to help me put the tent up!!!
