We are thinking of going to the New forest for around 5 days during the summer holidays - we generally like quite a natural/basic campsite (with loos/showers obviously!) - am also not up for paying too dollar- can anybody recommend somewhere please?

Holland’s wood, we had an amazing time and are going back 😁

greenhillfarm.co.uk We loved Greenhill Farm but there might be a few too many facilities for your liking.
Folds Farm foldsfarmcamping.co.uk/index.html Certainly basic.
www.redshoot-campingpark.com This is a happy medium between the two above.

Those are three great sites - thanks.

Another vote for Hollands wood. Lovely, clean, able to walk to the nearest village. Sadly no fires though.

Harry's Field is nice.

Personally I didn't like Hollands Farm. Too close to a busy, noisy road and also lots of very large groups. It has an odd layout?, too: kind of wedge-shaped. Aldridge Hill and Roundhill are much nicer IMHO althouh AH doesn't have showers or loos and so you need to take your own portaloo and be happy with bucket washes :)

Long Meadow campsite in Brockenhurst is great and fits your bill perfectly. It’s very relaxed there and showers are good.

Beautiful walk through the forest into Brockenhurst with horses everywhere. The woods reminded me of The Hobbit!

I've never been, but dh went as a child, went to Sandyballs camping. Just so his Mum could laugh about the name.

Sandy balls.

We went to Long Meadow after seeing it recommended on here a few years ago.

It was great. No electricity but they did have a shared freezer for ice packs and the showers were nice and clean. You can walk into the forest in minutes and there are streams and rope swings. The kids loved it. Cycle hire was easy to arrange too.

There are deer droppings all over the camping field because at night when your are asleep the deer come and graze all around the tents. I woke up one night and poked my head out of the tent to watch them. It was lovely to see.

another sandy balls vote here!

we stayed in a caravan in feb but did have a nose at the camp area and the facilities - they're fab and the holiday park itself is lovely and clean.

we'll definitely be going back there!
