Please lend me your experience and save me from an uncomfortable/cold camping break!

We have just bought a small caravan which will fit the 3 kids in to sleep with an awning bedroom for us.

What bed is best - raised blow up double, 2x blow up singles, camp bed, SIM?

Also, as we are fresh out the box camping wise, what else do I need to know please?

I would go for good quality individual self inflating mats in preference to blow up ones. Definitely not double anything.

Thank you - would you also go for individual sleeping bags? I had a romantic notion of a double but dh thinks I am an anti social bed partner even in optimal conditions...

We have a double sleeping bag and a double camp bed (I love the bed, so much more comfortable than the air bed was!). In hindsight, two single bags would have been better, but DH tends to unzip and throw back his side anyway.

I have finally resolved this pr blew after years of back pain. My solution is 2 old style camp beds (springy W shaped legs, low lying) about £20 each from Go outdoors or similar, then a 7cm+ SIM and a double sleeping.
3 nights of pain free sleeping!
Good luck

After a lot of research on camp beds, I came across carp fishing chair beds which are basically camp beds with springy rope holding the canvas on for more 'give'. I have splashed out on two which have memory form mattresses...I hope they are as comfy as I've read they are!

Wow they look brilliant. Never heard of them but chair AND bed! Bonanza.

Get the best self inflating mat you can afford. Personally, after many years and variations, I have to concede sleeping on a separate mat and in a separate bag from my DH is preferable. I hate the constriction of mummy style bags so go for a squarer style, a double to myself is ideal.
Sleeping in an awning is quite cold, so take extra blankets too.
A friend of mine has an ingenious sleeping bag with integral memory foam mattress which is really comfy. Never seen one in a camping shop though, so no idea where it's from.
