We have only ever been to Les Valades which we loved, but the kids are older now (13 & 10) and we would like to go somewhere different. Tent camping. Walking distance to a village with shops and a market would be good, definitely a pool (slides optional), a bar and restaurant with maybe something going on in the evenings but not too hectic. Preferably not much further south than the Dordogne, but different area. I was contemplating Brittany but concerned the weather may be too much like here.

Any suggestions? I realise it's very late to book too.

Thanks!

Hillbilly, just checked and we don't get there until Monday 6th! We're stopping off in Burgundy for a few nights before, to visit the Guedelon castle. We might even then, have your pitch! Smile Are there many other British families, or is it mainly French and Dutch?

A few brits but on the whole French and Dutch.

What a shame Prof! Anyway, I hope you will enjoy your time here. My kids paired up with a couple of Dutch boys for UNO, volleyball and playing in the pool. Everyone is very friendly, the evening entertainment is fun but not intrusive ( unless you are pitched very close to the bar) and it all finishes at 11. Have fun!

Well, we have arrived and it seems very nice. We're in a much busier part of the site than you were hillbilly, on one of the roads to the lake but it's a good people spotter position! Tried the water park but not the lake, I appreciate being nearer to the lake and think we are far enough away from the entertainment. It's very busy though, bit of a difference after our last rural site.

Prof we were very lucky with our pitch and if we go next year will request the same one. The lake is wonderful for sunbathing, swimming and canoeing/paddle boarding. Obv it's very quite at the lake in the mornings as you can't use canoes before 2pm. I ended up there more than at the pool tbh. Murol market on weds morning is good. We also went up Mont Dore in the cable car then walked to the top (cable car was about €32 for the 4 of us). Besse is really nice too. We were very lazy and spent a lot of time chilling in the site but intend to do more next year. Have fun!
