Heading to the Vendee in a couple of weeks for 11 nights - mobile home not tent. Hoping for tips on essential items to pack? ds1 aged 9 and ds2 aged 7. What, with hindsight, did you wish you had packed or what did you find useful that you had included? Thanks everyone.

We're off on Thursday for our 3rd Keycamp holiday This year, we're off to the Loire Region.

Things to pack are :

sheets/pillowcases - they supply pillows and blankets but we take our own pillows plus sleeping bags (I'm very fussy )

bath mat (didn't take one 1st year and the bathroom became an indoor swimming pool!)

bath towels/beach towels

teatowels - also kitchen stuff like dishcloths etc. I also pack things like washing up liquid/soap/bleach etc.

This year, I'm packing some Citronella candles for when we're eating outside - have used them this week in the garden as we've had swarms of wasps/hoverflies and they have been excellent.

Can't think of anything else - packed the kids stuff today, planning to do mine tomorrow.

Hope you have a good time

OOooh hedghog... where are you staying. We're off on 23/8 to the Vendee-St Hilaire. It'll be our first time too. Getting really excited about it now, but think just about any holiday would be fab at the moment. Going a bit stir crazy after being housebound with the kiddies suffering from chicken pox.

As well as plenty of snacks for the journey, we take a small box of food e.g. Marmite, Weetabix, teabags, coffee, powdered milk, and just enough to make a small meal when we get there if the site shop/takeaway is closed (last thing you want to do after a long journey is head to the supermarche!). We were in the south of France last year and arrived just as the forest fires hit, so we were stuck in the site and very glad of our pasta and bol sauce supply!)
