Any experience of camping in Sweden?

Most of our camping has been in southern Europe, but kinda interested in exploring elsewhere this year but do like warm weather...

Has anyone camped in Sweden during the summer, what's it like and was it warm?

Have only ever been in self catering in Sweden but from what I can remember in August was warm and lovely with lots of outdoor swimming etc (south west coast). Check this out to be certain but I think there are more lax rules in Sweden about where you can actually camp if you're taking your own equipment - basically, you have the right to settle just about anywhere. The Swedes are lovely people - we had a great time there.

Have visited Scandinavian countries years ago, but DH doesn't believe it would be sunny there in the summer and although it won't be like the south of France, as long as it's better than UK summer I could possibly convince him

Did you drive? Where you staying around Malmo area?

This was around ten years ago - we were in Gothenburg for a few days which we loved - then drove up the west coast to a place called Fjällbaka which was just gorgeous. Little huts by the beach, laid back cafes. Ingrid Bergman used to have a holiday home there.

Lovely and sunny the two times we have been to Sweden, although obviously not as warm as the south of France.

If you go far enough north, it doesn't really get dark for very long (if at all) which I found messed with my sleep patterns.

If you are going to Malmo area, if you are thinking of spending any time in Copenhagen, this is a great campsite in an old fort on the Oresund (although it is a few years since we camped there so perhaps check out more recent reviews) campingcopenhagen.dk/en/

We camped in Sweden in August 8 or 9 years ago - the weather was absolutely fine. We were in much the same area as you mentionned - Lund and then down to the coast at Trelleborg. Can't remember too much detail, but we and the kids definitely had a great time.

Be aware that ticks carry both Lyme and TBE - if you’re in a tick area then just check daily, be aware of correct removal and remove them fast.

I live here, never camped but there are loads of campsites - up north no ticks either. July and Aug are usually warm although of course nowhere in Northern Europe is guaranteed hot weather. However, as I will be heavily pregnant in August I suspect it’ll be warm. ;) find somewhere near lakes for swimming 🏊‍♀️

I've taken the vaccine more than ten times; you're supposed to take it on a rolling 3-5 year schedule except the first time (when it's twice within a few weeks time, then again one more time within a year I think, and then you're on a roll...)

Oh, one more thing, it doesn't stop people from camping or being outdoors, it's just that you check for ticks one more time before slipping into bed Zzzzz.... you don't necessarily want them biting you overnight.
